Job Description

ISE Area Representatives (ARs) are essential to delivering the high-quality cultural exchange experiences that define our program. Our ARs are remote independent contractors. Many are very active, working with several exchange students each year. Others place and supervise one student at a time.

Is This Role a Good Match for Me?

If you agree with the following statements, you’d be a great match for the role:

  • I firmly believe in the value of cultural exchange.
  • I have a passion for making a meaningful difference in people’s lives.
  • I like to create opportunities for young people.
  • I want to enrich my community.
  • I enjoy building new and fulfilling relationships.
  • I love to travel and explore new places.

You don’t need experience working in cultural exchange to be a successful AR (although it doesn’t hurt!) What you need is a desire to bring the people of the world closer together and educate the leaders of tomorrow through cross-cultural educational experiences.

Duties of the AR include:

  • Recruiting, screening, and supporting host families
  • Offering guidance to students during their stay
  • Working with your local high schools
  • Acting as a cultural exchange ambassador and encouraging participation in the program.

This is a STIPEND paying position. Bonuses and travel incentives can be earned.

International Student Exchange is proud to serve as a sponsor of J-1 secondary school exchange for international students as well as a provider of cultural exchange programs for American high school students interested in living and studying abroad. Founded in 1982, our certified 501c3 non-profit organization has provided quality exchange programs for over 30,000 exchange students. We are designated by the US Department of State to run our J-1 program for the purpose of cultural enrichment and public diplomacy and are fully-listed with CSIET (the Council on Standards for International Educational Travel.)
