This position is based at The COVID-19 Vaccination site at the Essex Fairgrounds. There are several opportunities available including full-time, part-time, and per-diem work.

The Welcoming Specialist serves as an ambassador for the University of Vermont Health Network by greeting, screening, directing and assisting patients at the COVID-19 Vaccination Site in Essex. The Welcoming Specialist will be the first person a patient encounters upon arrival at the site. Exceptional customer service combined with professional etiquette deployment is required. The Welcoming Specialist provides a wide range of duties including, but not limited to, escorting patients to and from their vehicles in the parking lot, assisting patients in and out of a wheelchair and escorting them where needed, and exterior entry point screening. Screening may incorporate CDC screening guidelines or other emerging standards. Entry authorization criteria and enforcement is linked to the current UVMMC Welcoming Policy regarding visitor management.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Willingness to escort patients, outdoors, in all weather conditions (cold, snow, ice, heat, rain, etc.).

  • The ability to perform efficiently in a high volume, fast-paced, self-directed/autonomous work setting

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • The ability to multi-task safely and effectively

  • Strong customer service and communication skills

  • A patient-focused mindset

  • The ability to stand on their feet for at least eight hours (with one 30 minute break) and walk in excess of 10 miles/day

  • Reliable availability

EDUCATION:

High School diploma or equivalent required.

EXPERIENCE:

Customer service experience and experience providing or assisting in direct patient care preferred
