Your New Role - Web Applications Developer

The Web Applications Developer provides IT application development and support to the Department of Administrative Services (DAS) and its client agencies. This position is part of the DAS IT Application Delivery Web development team. Web based and client server applications are supported for both new development and on-going maintenance of existing applications critical to conducting the business of the State of Oregon. Applications support provided by the team impacts critical areas such as statewide financials, budgeting, procurement, payroll, personnel, the Governor’s and Legislative Fiscal Offices, as well as many smaller Boards and Commissions.

What Are We Looking For?

Information Systems Specialist 6 Minimum Qualifications:

Five (5) years of information systems experience in web application development with preference in C#; OR an equivalent combination of directly related education* and experience.

Candidates who are the most competitive will have the following (requested skills):

Must be skilled in and have demonstrated experience and ability to program/utilize the following:

  • C#

  • .NET Core

  • MVC or Razor Pages

  • JavaScript or jQuery

  • Git

Must have working knowledge of and/or experience in:

  • Azure DevOps (formerly TFS - Team Foundation Server)

  • SQL, including creating reports using SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services) and BI (business intelligence) tools

  • The principles, techniques, and methodologies of Agile development, Web application design, and SDLC

  • Establishing and maintaining effective and collaborative working relationships with members of leadership, co-workers, customers, other agencies and the public.

Desired attributes and skills include:

  • Experience developing full stack and supporting web applications end-to-end

  • Experience with AAD (Azure Active Directory)

  • Strong customer service and communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical issues to non-technical customers

  • Ability to voice opinions with clear rationale based on data and factual evidence

  • Ability to troubleshoot problems and isolate the root cause and to propose permanent solutions with estimated work effort

Information Systems Specialist 5 Underfill Opportunity Information:

If the successful applicant does not meet the minimum qualifications for the Information Systems Specialist 6 classification, but does meet the minimum qualifications for the Information Systems Specialist 5 classification, the applicant will be appointed to the classification of Information Systems Specialist 5 (SR 28, $4,701.00 - $ 7.601.00). The duration and conditions surrounding the assignment and supervision of work are determined at the time of appointment

*Education - Areas of education directly related to the position include: Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
