Waterjet Operator - Machine Shop Technician

Description

This is a fast paced position to operate Waterjet machines and participate in our CNC mill machining operation. The primary position will focus primarily on Waterjet machine operation and activities related to running parts through the Waterjet department. You will work cooperatively with the other members of the shop floor and management team to support other daily manufacturing activities. This is very much a hands-on position that will consist of many responsibilities including the following:

· Waterjet machine setup and operation

· Operation of shop tools such as sanders, grinders and saws

· Use of handheld measurement tools such as micrometers & calipers for inspection of machined components.

· Operation of CNC mills as a general operator (will train as required)

· Operation of wire EDM’s as a general operator (will train as required)

· Possibly some limited programming with waterjets (dependent on the individual's desire and background)

· Loading and unloading of machines

· Rebuilding of waterjet pump ‘wet-ends’

· Packaging of machined components and cleaning & organizing the shop

· Operation of forklifts (will certify as required)

· Reading, interpreting, and general use of prints and drawings

· Following shop traveler instructions and light documentation as necessary

In addition to duties listed above, the candidate will be required to gain an in-depth knowledge of our general shop operation and to have the ability to learn other skills and machine operation as needed. A background in a manufacturing or machining company is strongly desired.

Required Qualifications:

· Must have a minimum of 4+ years’ experience in a manufacturing or machine shop type environment.

· A minimum of at least 2 years running Waterjet machines is required

· Additional experience should have at least 1-year direct knowhow in operating some type of other machine gear without supervision. Examples may include: Manual mills/lathes, CNC lasers, Wire EDM, or CNC routers/mills

· Proficient on how to use handheld measurement tools such as micrometers & calipers. You must know how to read a Vernier scale.

· The candidate must possess excellent communications skills-NO EXCEPTIONS

· The candidate must be able to effectively read, write, understand technical instructions and follow these written and oral instructions as provided by the shop manager.

· Must be able to read and understand a general manufacturing print or drawing.

· High School Diploma required; preference will be given to those with certification(s) such as with NTMA technical school

· Candidate must be computer literate

· Must be a USA citizen (government contract requirements)

· Able to lift at least 60 pounds

· Able to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Other Information

· Location: Huntington Beach

· Wage: $18-$24/hour; dependent upon experience and education.

· Typical hours of Operation: Mon - Fri: 7:00am – 3:30pm (alternate hours may be required from time to time to meet corporate objectives. A second shift is also under consideration)
