Position Summary

The Receiving Supervisor provides overall supervisory and direct guidance to the receiving department team for roles such as: the department lead, receiving clerk(s), inbound receipt/ purchase order verifiers that unload trucks and re-position product as necessary to execute a thorough receipt process. They also guide the department’s forklift drivers that stage receipts for check in review, and that also are doing put-away to assigned locations throughout the facility - which is located at our Terre Haute, Indiana location.

Reporting directly to the department/area manager), they provide guidance and training to the department’s personnel.

They lead the critical staff that serves as the initial review point before an order can be checked into the system, ensuring SOP (standard operating procedure) is understood, and proper protocol is being followed internally per corporate direction, and that the providing supplier partners are also in accordance with standards. They ensure product is checked in as quickly as possible while being 100% accurate, which sets up the entire operation for downstream success.

They will ensure constant communication and collaboration across other Operations departments such as Production and Order Picking.

The dept. lead will be providing continuous information on planned receipts, and the most recent executed receiving activities so corporate offices and customers are always up to date on related ETA’s (estimated time of arrival).

The position requires a keen awareness of receipt accuracy, and a dedicated commitment to the best receiving procedures & practices established by the company. They will need to be a proactive voice in continuous improvement efforts. The Receiving Manager will also maintain the receiving area’s overall cleanliness and appearance.

The Supervisor is charged with cross training employees in the department as well as planning for adequate manpower to meet daily schedules and appropriately matching Associate skills with duties of the job.

The Supervisor also ensures that all work is done according to safety and security guidelines.

Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for overseeing all receiving activities within the team to ensure accuracy, completeness and condition of goods
  • Lead and direct the receiving team to ensure purchase orders are checked in and put-away in a timely and cost- effective manner
  • Coordinates with their manager the shift scheduling and staff balancing to meet business requirements
  • Responsible for training new employees and motivating current employees
  • Establish mid and long-term process improvement plans

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a receiving lead role
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Knowledge of warehouse and inventory management
  • Must have strong time organizational skills with emphasis on meeting deadlines
  • Highly energetic and assertive with strong leadership skills
  • Experience in leading a team
  • Excellent, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Ship Works software experience an asset; however, not a requirement
  • MS office efficiency is required (Excel, Word, and Outlook email)
  • Ability to step in and operate as backup for each position within the dept. as needed
  • Perform all work, tasks, projects, or duties as assigned by the Manager in a timely manner and with an acceptable level of quality
  • Working knowledge of Warehouse Mgmt. Systems (WMS)
  • 3PL Central knowledge a plus Ability to read and comprehend policies, procedures and business-related correspondence
  • Well-organized and high level of attention to detail
  • Available to work Monday-Friday
  • Full time preferred, part time positions may be available at times as well
  • Trouble shoots shipping issues and customer complaints that arise and work to solve them
  • Must be a team player, flexible, and motivated
  • Must have the initiative and discipline to work with limited supervision
  • Transition between alternate duties as needed

If you have experience using a forklift, that's great. If not, we offer paid, on-site training and certification to further assist in shipping support activities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to lift packages 35 lbs. or less
  • Should be able to team lift any package greater than 35 lbs. but less than 71 lbs.
  • Should be able to handle repetitive twisting, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, and bending
  • Ability to spend long periods of time on your feet in addition to sitting at a computer

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 per hour
