Job Description

The VP, Associate Creative Director (ACD) fosters creative inspiration and fresh ideation for a group of Designers/Art Directors. He or she thinks about our business and brands both creatively and strategically. The VP, ACD manages multiple brands and carries a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of the creative department and big-picture agency initiatives. He or she contributes high-level creative ideas but can also execute day to-day tasks as needed. As a VP, ACD, you must be able to identify potential problems and function as an independent decision maker. The VP, ACD participates in and leads new business pitches in addition to managing their brands and group needs. He or she directly manages client relationships at high creative and strategic levels, excels at client presentations, knows how to fight for award-winning creative, and embraces the strategy behind the brands he or she manages. The VP, ACD Art partners with Creative Directors, Business Leaders, and Strategists to think on initiatives outside of traditional brand work.


About the Job:

  • Serve as the art expert for assigned brands
  • Serve as a creative team leader who others can look to for direction and solutions
  • Oversee art but also help to cover copy
  • Drive development of brand messaging and creative while offering strategic contributions
  • Play a key role in brand planning, creative development and on-strategy creative initiatives
  • Consistently ideate new innovative ideas to sell to brand partners
  • Bring a fresh approach to day-to-day projects to inspire direct reports and clients alike
  • Work with all functional areas to ensure the work is expressing a compelling single-minded idea
  • Work with other departments in developing best practices
  • Take an active role in client discussions, as well as internal and external meetings to ensure creative and strategic alignment
  • Help client(s) understand and internalize criteria by which creative product should be assessed
  • Manage the successful financial landscape for assigned brands, including reviewing and providing input on scopes, hours and staff
  • Help shape the careers of assigned direct reports and stand as a strong mentor inspiring award-winning creative excellence
  • Support Creative Director in all requests

About You:

  • 8+ years of design/art experience in a fast-paced ad agency
  • Pharmaceutical brand experience
  • Strong understanding of how strategy shapes brand messaging and creative
  • Demonstrate exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • A clear, effective and persuasive presenter
  • Ability to negotiate effectively to maintain creative integrity
  • Previous supervisory experience
