DESCRIPTION:


Under general supervision, plans, organizes, and manages programs in volunteer services for the assigned City department. Assesses the department's program needs which can be met with volunteer labor and develops programs and matches volunteers to meet those needs. Performs volunteer recruitment and onboarding and evaluates the program's effectiveness.



EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:



Manages the department's volunteer program, including volunteer recruitment, staff training, monitoring of volunteer activities, and conducting programs to recognize volunteer appreciation.

Acts as a liaison between the department and volunteer groups, as well as community groups wishing to volunteer with the Department. Schedules and presents volunteer training. Develops volunteer support for major events or activities.

Collaborates with the department's Community Affairs and other functions to ensure community policing and other programs are adequately staffed with volunteer support.

Provides onboarding services for new volunteers - screening and selection, and providing credentialing and orientation services.

Maintains contact with supervisor staff to determine volunteer needs and requirements.



EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:


Bachelor's degree.

Two (2) years of volunteer staff management experience. Experience working with public safety personnel is preferred. Four years of additional work experience directly related to the role may substitute for the Bachelor's degree.
