Job Description

This position is responsible for the creation of a wide range of agency videos and still photography. Work includes field and studio videography, lighting, video editing, audio engineering, and video graphics to support internal and external communications.The position performs studio and field digital photography, which includes photo editing.The position has a flexible work schedule with occasional overnight travel.

The position works under the direction of the DFPS Web and Creative Services director and interacts with a range of agency executives, program specialists and field staff, as well as clients and stakeholders.

Essential Job Functions:
1. Records audio and shoots high definition video in the field and in-studio using DSLRs and 4-K definition video cameras. This includes camera work, lighting setups, and audio-engineering at video shoots. (25%)

2. Edits and masters high-definition video, using desktop computers and professional editing software in compliance with prevailing accessibility standards. Archives finished videos and uploads them to You Tube, Vimeo, Word Press, or other platforms. (25%)

3. Produces graphics, title screens, lower-third name keys and closing credits using Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator. (5%)

4. Performs audio engineering by using Adobe Audition or similar programs, including audio sweetening and mixing. (10%)

5. Shoots and edits digital still photography in the field and in-studio. (25%)

6. Works and coordinates closely with the web/creative services director, social media coordinator, multi-media specialists, and web-team members, and performs other duties as assigned. (10%)


Knowledge Skills Abilities:
1. Knowledge and skill related to audio-video field and multi-camera studio work.
2. Ability to edit and master HD video using Adobe Premiere software and other software.
3. Ability to produce motion graphics, title screens, lower-third name keys and closing credits using Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects or other software.
4. Ability to capture high-quality audio and use Adobe Audition to sweeten audio and add sound effects and music as warranted.
5. Ability to optimize video according to the platform, upload video to You Tube, Vimeo, or similar file-sharing platforms, and add accurate captions.
6. Knowledge and ability to shoot professional-quality still photography and enhance it using Photoshop.
7. Ability to perform lighting setup at video shoots in the field or in-studio.
8. Ability to work well with a wide range of people with varying backgrounds and to conduct oneself in a professional manner at all times.

Initial Selection Criteria:
  • Minimum of 5-years of experience as a professional videographer or photo journalist.


  • Minimum 2-year college degree in Radio, Television & Film, Film/Video & Cinematography, Photojournalism, or other applicable field of study. Additional professional work experience may be substituted for formal education.
