Job Description

The Vice President of Human Resources provides executive-level leadership and guidance to the organizations HR corporate, NY office, field sales, and facility operations. The Vice President is responsible for setting, enforcing, and evaluating legally compliant human resources policies, procedures, and best practices, and identifying and implementing long-range strategic talent management goals.

Strategic Planning and Development

  • Collaborates with executive leadership to define the organizations long-term mission and goals; identifies ways to support this mission through talent management.
  • Participates in business planning and strategic direction with executives including organizational structure; recruiting strategies; retention; exit strategies; ramifications of division expansion, reduction or change, etc.
  • Identifies key performance indicators for the organizations human resource and talent management functions; assesses the organizations success and market competitiveness based on these metrics.

Compensation, Benefit Administration, and Risk Management

  • Researches, develops, and implements competitive compensation, benefits, performance appraisal, and employee incentive programs including bonus plans.
  • Overseas all employee benefits including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, LTD, STD, and other voluntary benefits. Works with all insurance brokers and administrators.
  • Provides guidance and leadership to the human resource management team; assists with resolution of human resource, compensation, and benefits questions, concerns, and issues.
  • Manages company retirement plans including 401k, Define Benefit Plan, SERP, and NQDC plan.
  • Manages corporate workers compensation plan including attending mediations and negotiating contracts. Effectively manage carriers and legal process.

Employment Law Compliance

  • Ensures compliance with employment, benefits, insurance, safety, and other laws, regulations, and requirements (ERISA, ACA, EEOC, DOL, FMLA, Sick Leave, etc.)
  • Maintains knowledge of laws, regulations, and best practices in employment law, human resources, and talent management.

Payroll

  • Overseas payroll process for monthly and bi-weekly multi-state payroll.

Employee Relations

  • Conduct performance appraisals, hiring, coaching, career development conversations and disciplinary actions of employees.
  • Provide guidance to executives and facility HR on disciplinary actions plans. Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
  • Provides counsel in employee relations issues and partners with legal when necessary.
  • Serve as employee advocate protecting employee’s interest while complying with legalities and policies.
  • Implement processes that protect and enhance the lives of our teammates.
  • Serve as company representative to community at large.

Other Duties

  • Drafts and implements the organizations staffing budget, and the budget for the human resource department including legal budget, and medical budget.
  • Oversea building maintenance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Ability to travel to facilities.


Required Experience
  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; Masters degree highly preferred.
  • At least ten years of human resource management experience required, with strategic, talent management, and/or business development experience highly preferred.
  • Must have managed multiple locations including manufacturing experience.
  • SPHR or SHRM-SCP strongly preferred.
