Our Vice President, Innovation will drive topline growth for the Global Plumbing Group (GPG) by owning annual innovation revenue and profit and share objectives while leading consumer led process improvement, project selection, project management and milestone execution within a cross-functional innovation team. This role is responsible for the organization’s global innovation, including developing the vision, strategy and executional elements to deliver growth across existing and future product and/or service categories with a consumer focus.

Responsibilities

Functional

  • Develop and execute innovation strategies that deliver revenue, profit and share growth for The Global Plumbing Group
    • Increase the sales leverage of GPG innovations across all channels and geographies
    • Increase the productivity of GPG’s innovation resource investment and contribution margin
    • Develop innovation into an organizational sustainable competitive advantage
    • Drive our strategic product roadmap to fulfill growth and objectives Extend our understanding of industry, category and product drivers; leverage our current knowledge of consumer trends and key needs states while also increasing our capabilities
    • Develop concrete market structures and go-to-market plans
    • Steward the brand equity of all our businesses through its expansion, ensuring cohesion across new products and preservation within legacy categories
    • Collaborate with key leaders across the organization to shape our consumer research agenda and its execution across products
  • Define and implement the organization structure required to execute the Global Plumbing Group Innovation strategies
    • Introduce and develop a culture of innovation and idea generation into all our innovation teams across GPG while attracting, developing and retaining the right people to consistently innovate
    • Coach by actively participating in the critical thinking behind all projects within the group, ensuring the group continually executes on-time and on-strategy; this position may also lead critical projects, as needed
    • Leverage a network of external partners, as required, to augment or introduce new capabilities
    • Facilitate the cross-functional alignment of the team across the GPG organization
  • Leverage proven innovation processes to execute on the enterprise-wide Innovation strategy
    • Lead the evolution of innovation management process for GPG, leveraging internal and external resources, which includes refining and enhancing the talent, processes and events within a formal innovation cycle ensuring adherence to established stage-gate process
    • Leverage the current DIA process (or a similar learning-based methodology) to manage the high uncertainty Category Innovations
  • Establish enterprise-wide understanding of, and commitment to, achieving profitable results from innovation efforts
    • Communicate effectively within and beyond the innovation team (including to the Executive Team level) to build understanding and support of the innovation team’s value to the organization and to provide regular updates on deliverables and project status
    • Utilize knowledge of cross-functional organization to drive initiatives to completion
    • Present business cases and opportunities to stakeholders, executive leadership and colleagues while facilitating meaningful and constructive exchanges of ideas and knowledge
    • Think creatively and strategically, pushing boundaries when necessary, to drive innovation into existing and new product and category offerings

Enterprise

  • Serve as a visible leader and spokesperson for enterprise-wide innovation efforts
  • Lead collaboration across Business Units (BUs) to ensure alignment and leveraging of research, data, ideas and technology.
  • Partner with the BUs to prioritize commercialization of innovation initiatives within the appropriate BU’s.
  • Implement a regular communication process with key executive stakeholders to keep them informed and aligned with the ongoing innovation efforts
  • Serve as a key member of the GPG Portfolio Management team to ensure that the project portfolio aligns with the business strategies, provides the right balance between categories (incremental, defend and disruptive/category) and maximizes the value creation of the resources and dollars

Qualifications


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Science, Engineering or related field required; MBA desired
  • Minimum 15 years of prior marketing experience; consumer packaged goods industry preferred
  • Minimum of 8 years in a people leadership/project management role, with demonstrated ability and results leading cross-functional projects
  • Experience working with Voice of the Customer and Design Thinking Methodology
  • Consistent track record of delivering outstanding business results, repeatedly driving organic growth and strategic advancement of brands and businesses through new product innovations
  • Proven ability to find and interpret consumer and customer insights that enable new product successes using multiple market research techniques
  • Demonstrated ability to take abstract ideas and communicate them simply and effectively across all layers of the organization
  • Demonstrated track record of attracting, developing and retaining top talent
