Job Description
The person working in this position will be responsible for: 1) pet care, 2) housekeeping, 3) treatment clean up, 4) assisting doctors and technicians, and 5) other tasks as assigned.
Pet care can include, but is not limited to:
cleaning cages, walking dogs outside to eliminate (any weather), laundering pet bedding, feeding, watering, following directions and taking notes for appropriate medical care (e.g., saving specimens, amounts eaten or drank, presence/amount of vomiting/diarrhea, etc.), changing cat litter, mopping floors, and shoveling snow.
Housekeeping includes tasks within the building (laundry, dishwashing, dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and other tasks as assigned) and outside (collecting animal wastes, disposing of garbage, clearing walks and parking lot of leaves and snow, etc.).
Treatment clean up may include surgical instrument care (washing, treating, and assembling surgical packs), restocking drawers and trays, and others as assigned.
Assisting the Doctors and technicians in performing their duties. This includes holding/restraining pets, collecting requested samples (e.g., urine, feces, vomit, etc.), providing medical diets and/or hand feeding, etc.
This is a full-time position. Availability afternoons, evenings and Saturdays a must.Generous benefit package including:

- Collect soiled bedding, dishes, and litter pans. Appropriately clean, launder or dispose.
- Clean and disinfect kennels and cages daily and as needed.
- Provide food, water, and appropriate medications as instructed by technicians, assistants and doctors.
- Maintain patient records, patient ins and outs, and other information as needed.
- Collect requested specimens from patients and deliver as appropriate to treatment, laboratory, etc.
- Floors are swept and mopped daily and as needed.
- Patients are monitored and checked periodically as instructed.
- Kennel supplies are monitored and reorders noted when needed.
- Dispose of garbage daily and as needed.
Exam Rooms, Reception, Prep, Pharmacy
- Floors – sweep/mop daily, and as needed. Vacuum carpet weekly and as needed.
- Walls and Counters – clean weekly and as needed.
- Sinks – wash as needed or weekly.
- Food and Displays – straighten weekly or as needed. Refill as needed.
Surgery
- Sweep and mop floor daily or as needed.
- Weekly, dust walls and equipment.
- Clean surgery equipment daily.
- Clean ceiling monthly.
- Maintain table pad cleanliness.
- Empty garbage if needed.
Imaging
- Sweep and mop floor daily or as needed.
- Empty garbage as needed.
- Monthly, dust shelves and equipment.
- Provide table cleaner and paper towels as needed.
Dental Suite
- Clean kennels daily or as needed.
- Maintain cleaning supplies.
- Empty garbage daily or as needed.
- Sweep and mop floor daily or as needed.
- Monthly, dust shelves and equipment.
Grounds
- Police grounds daily for dog wastes and debris.
- Empty garbage cans, poop station as needed.
- Maintain parking lot and sidewalks (sweep leaves/debris, shovel snow, salt ice).
