UX Research Participant Recruiter - Opportunity For Working Remotely Washington, D.C.

You will help people throughout the VMware Design team unlock the power of UX research by connecting UX researchers and designers with the right participants for their research studies. Your role will involve building connections with people inside and outside VMware who want to help us improve our technology through connecting with target users. VMware Design includes a vibrant group of designers, engineers, accessibility specialists, and researchers that work together to create enterprise technology experiences that affect people throughout the world. A vital aspect of the job is ensuring that team members can do the research they need to do to create designs that demonstrably meet user needs.

Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

• Understanding how we already connect with users for research studies and refining the processes to provide more targeted outreach
• Leveraging tools used for research
• Expanding the participant recruiting program to include populations that are currently hard to recruit
• Ensuring that people attending research sessions are appropriate for the research questions covered
• Ensuring that the recruiting done for VMware Design aligns well with other customer-facing activities in VMware
• Complying with applicable laws, such as GDPR
• Communicating with customers and other target users with empathy and resiliency

The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

• Interacting with researchers and designers to understand the participant needs for their research studies
• Finding and scheduling valid participants
• Providing thank you messages and possibly incentives
• Improving the processes and tools for recruiting

What is the leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like?

This role will report to Mary Lee, the Head of User Research in VMware Design. She focuses on building an environment where people work together to achieve great things. VMware Design has some research specialists, but all team members are expected to conduct research to ensure that users’ perspectives are considered throughout the design and development lifecycle. We cover a wide range of external and internal products, both established products and new areas. It’s a dynamic place full of caring people.

As a participant recruiter working on the team, you are expected to be an active problem solver. You should communicate successes and challenges in a clear manner. You will have clear ownership of your work.

Where is this role located?
Remote: This role is fully remote, allowing you the flexibility to work from the location you feel most productive and comfortable. You will be expected to live within 0-4 time zones of the primary location.
