    DutiesSummary

    This position is located in the Maintenance Branch, utilities Section of the U.S. Mint at Philadelphia. This section is responsible for the operation, repair and maintenance of the equipment which supplies the utilities for the operation of the Mint.


    Responsibilities

    As a Utilities Systems Repairer Operator, you will:

    • Be responsible for the operation, preventive maintenance, maintenance, adjustment, troubleshooting and repair of complicated equipment and systems supplying all utilities for the operation of the Philadelphia Mint facility and production operations.
    • Operate and maintain multiple zone heating, air conditioning and ventilation systems (HVAC).
    • Provide all preventive maintenance, maintenance, installation and repairs necessary to control various temperatures throughout the building which contains many offices and numerous large industrial shops.
    • Monitor systems and auxiliary equipment for temperature control, records operation readings and adjusts systems to provide proper operation.
    • Analyze operating conditions as shown by indicating and recording meters and gauges reflecting load changes for steam, water temperatures and pressures, pressures for distribution pumps, air and other controls.

    Physical Requirements:

    The incumbent must work from heights up to seventy-five feet above the plant floor and in pits from four to six feet deep. Frequently lifts weights up to 50 pounds and is required to work from ladders, scaffolding and platforms. Prolonged standing, kneeling, stooping and walking are necessary. Will be required to work in all body positions and in cramped quarters, along with maneuvering equipment in and out of locations.

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

    • May be required to wear safety clothing and/or equipment required by the position. This may include safety shoes, hard hats, hearing protection, gloves, masks, etc.
    • Pass a pre-employment physical examination.
