Job Description
Position Summary.

What you'll do.

As part of Site Reliability Engineering, you’ll help to develop a unified set of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning models to overarchingly detect operational anomalies, predict system failure, root cause an incident and automatically apply remediation steps balancing impact and reward. Those models will be applied to the various business offerings of Walmart including Walmart.com website, stores, distribution centers and its customers across geographies.

As a Director of ML, you will be responsible to build and grow the SRE ML team to perform statistical analysis of all critical parts of Walmart’s business operations and evaluate machine learning models to detect anomalies, alerting and advise remediation plans to quickly remediate any customer/associate impact. This role sits at the confluence of Site Reliability Engineering, and if you enjoy leveraging your natural curiosity and inventive problem-solving skills to understand the needs of our drivers and lead strategic initiatives to improve driver experience at scale.

  • Have strong Machine Learning Engineering focus with proven experience across Anomaly Detection and Deep Learning to creates reliable Customer journey.

  • Possess solid data science knowledge and experience leading ML projects, data gathering, preparation, wrangling and analysis, model training, testing and deployment.

  • Track record in designing machine learning systems and self-running artificial intelligence software to automate predictive models and transform data science prototypes and achieve high accuracy by applying appropriate ML algorithms and tools.

  • Engage in high priority business/corporate impacting incidents and analyze ways to identify incident impact, root cause and resolution plans to reduce risk and impact key Operational goals and objectives

  • Collaborate effectively with stakeholders from various functions such as Product, Business, Operations, and other Engineering teams to work together to lead initiatives to improve Walmart’s production stability, resiliency.

  • Develop a deep understanding of the various data sources, tuning unstructured data into useful insights and employ AI/ML methods to derive better outcomes for Global Tech & business teams

  • Actively engage in Holiday (Peak Trading) business discussions with a view to build a safe and reliable

  • Customer, Associate and Merchant experience and lower risk exposure

What you’ll bring…

  • A recognized Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Engineering with 15+ years of experience in Computer/Data Science/Mathematics which includes the Machine Learning areas like Anomaly Detection, Predictive Analytics, Computer Vision & Modeling

  • 5+ years of experience as a Machine Learning Engineer.

  • 10+ years of experience in managing, leading, and developing Machine Learning focused teams of 10+ data/ML engineers

  • Extensive knowledge of ML frameworks, libraries, data structures, data modeling and software architecture and in-depth knowledge of mathematics, statistics, and algorithms.

  • You are a highly resilient and responsive team player with high degree of cross functional teaming

  • You are someone who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic, startup-like environment to drive business results and passionate about Customer delight with every transaction

  • You have a great sense of urgency, is a great communicator (written and verbal), active listener and has experience working in a highly matrixed environment with a global footprint.

  • You should possess high degree of Emotional Quotient to actively listen and respond/mobilizeeffective plans directed at our Associates

Minimum Qualifications.

Information Technology or related field and 4 years' experience in an analytics related field. Option 3: 8 years' experience in an analytics or related
field.
2 years' supervisory experience
