The US Government Space Business Director will lead US Government Space business development activities under direction of VP Sales and Business Development Thales Alenia Space (TAS) for NORAM.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for on-going customer interface with US Gov’t Space customers including DoD, NASA, NOAA, DND and CSA

  • Lead captures for Accessible DoD sales, e.g. Military sales that do not require security clearances, consisting mainly in equipment, payload and platform and hosting opportunities.

  • Assist in various legal and IT processes (TAA, DSP5, NDA, etc.) to allow above activities to take place.

  • Support our JV’s LeoStella on government and non-telecom New business Initiatives sales and business development activities

  • Daily link to primary US Space partner companies in coordination with Supervisor, Thales Key Acct & BL Managers

  • Independently develop new business leads with target space customers

  • Work with existing Sales and Bid support Manager for NASA captures to prepare and coordinate RFI and RFP responses

  • Advise business capture teams on customer/partner technical and commercial requirements

  • Serve as voice of customer on gate reviews as required

  • Prepare summaries of bus dev and project activities as needed

  • Participate actively in defining the product strategy based on customer feedback

  • Promote TAS products through attendance to Conferences, Seminars, Industry Days, Panel participation, etc.

  • Assist supervisor, as needed, in New Business Initiatives Captures (Commercial Companies involved in Remote Sensing, Navigation, IOT, weather, science and other services)

Key Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in the US Government space industry

  • Familiarly with US Federal Government acquisition regulations and processes

  • Understanding of US Government customer requirements development processes, solicitation, contracting and program management oversight

  • Experience in space strategy, business development, capture management or sales

  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills

  • Ability to work in a complex matrix organization with multidisciplinary and diversified teams

  • Bachelor’s degree in either Engineering, Economics or Business

  • Knowledge of major spacecraft bus, payload, instruments and equipment technologies and development trends and willingness to learn and maintain basic familiarity with all TAS products

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in either Engineering or Business

  • Experience in space requirements development or program management with either DoD, NRO, NGA, DND, NASA or NOAA

  • Experience with a major US space systems integrator marketing to, selling to or supporting US Gov’t space customers
