Job Description

About GMSTEK

The team at GMSTEK is a mix of aviation people and technology innovators that have created X-1FBO which is the most advanced, innovative, and reliable management and payment processing system for FBOs (Fixed Base Operators). In the face of a billion-dollar competitor and an industry averse to change, we are creating amazing things by challenging every convention we come across. We constantly ask the questions, why are we doing it that way? Is there a better way? This approach has helped us disrupt an industry and paved the way for a digital transformation!

Our Culture & Environment

We enjoy ourselves; our environment is laid back; the boss is often in a Hawaiian shirt and Cuban Coffee is our Jet A. We have a family atmosphere, our folks in the office eat lunch together every day. Our Miami Headquarters is a beautiful building in Palmetto Bay, FL right on Biscayne Bay, we have trails around the office, a gym, our own lake guarded by a pair of crocodiles. If you work remotely, it is a great place to visit! We have a great culture built around teamwork and common goals; we would love to have you as part of that team.

What's Up

GMSTEK is looking for a Product Designer that will be responsible for the research, UX, UI and testing for a new development project. We are embarking on a major project that requires us to use the lessons of the last few years and our unmatched experience in aviation and payments to reimagine a global payment solution and simplify user interactions while designing and implementing a beautifully simple design across different kinds of users in over 200 countries. Instead of an unrealistic laundry list of experience and education, our ideal Product Designer candidate is one that has a spark to create and a passion for how design impacts people and can convey that to others.

Basic Responsibilities:

  • Gather and evaluate user requirements in collaboration with our UI/UX Design Lead, stakeholders, product managers and engineers.
  • Conduct and explain research across a broad range of specialties and share the data in presentations and meetings.
  • Interview and interact with users and other 3rd parties through interviews, surveys, and testing to gain insights that inform your design.
  • Perform heuristic evaluations, competitive analysis, diary studies and create user personas.
  • Illustrate and communicate complex design solutions across identified use cases by creating process flows, site maps, wireframes, prototypes, and high and low-fidelity mock-ups.
  • Develop and maintain detailed design documentation including specifications, redlines, and style guides.
  • Research and identify design concepts and components that can be leveraged to improve the product and provide efficiency and/or cost savings.
  • Engage users in user testing to create and manage an iterative design process.
  • Create the visual aspects of the design and prepare prototypes for engineers including sourcing or creating icons and imagery.
  • Create designs that help maintain design assets across mobile and desktop UIs of the project.
  • Deliver a great user experience through a simple and engaging design!

Requirements:

  • Excellent presentation and leadership skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to conduct and explain research that drives good design and share the data so that all stakeholders can understand it.
  • We are looking for a creative thinker, be open to sharing whatever crazy idea pops into your head, it might not be crazy.
  • Able to communicate across calls, emails, chats, and smoke signals clearly and concisely.
  • We are in Miami, so Spanish helps but not at all required.
  • 2-3 years' experience preferred.

Location

While most of the hours will be remote the preference is for a candidate that lives in South Florida and can easily commute to our headquarters in Palmetto Bay for regular meetings and brainstorming sessions.

Travel

Some travel may be required, days per month vary but travel for this position will likely be minimal.
