Truck Loader/Unloader

TRUCK LOADER/ UNLOADER

The purpose of this role is to accurately load and unload lumber on and off trucks in a highly time-sensitive manner. The accuracy and efficiency in which Elk Creek ships trucks in and out of the yard is of utmost importance in producing profitability and maintaining a good reputation within the industry.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (approx. time spent annually)

• Receive dispatches and pull sheets for incoming trucks from Shipping Office or Outside Shipping Supervisor (25%)
• Load lumber on trucks (25%)
• Ensure staged lumber matches order specifications (piece count, dimension, species, quality, etc.) (15%)
• Stage loads (10%)
• Unload trucks and put inventory in correct location (10%)
• Perform checks on all outbound and inbound lumber, ensuring all inventory and paperwork is processed correctly (10%)
• Notify correct departments of any discrepancies immediately (5%)

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Count and check grades and specifications of inbound and outbound lumber
• Make notes on all appropriate paperwork
• Give all paperwork to appropriate departments
• Assist in tagging inventory
• Adhere to all safety procedures in operations
• Any other duties assigned by Supervisor

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Previous experience loading and unloading lumber required
• Knowledge of correct process to load/unload trucks
• Certified and efficient in forklift operation through ECFP
• Ability to read and understand sales and purchase orders
• Ability to work as part of a team and stay on task independently
• Ability to meet deadlines
• Positive and motivated mindset

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
