Transporter / CT Technician Aide PRN

Medical City Lewisville

Position Summary:

Transport patients to/from Imaging Department. Responsible for maintenance of wheelchairs, stretchers and 02 tanks. Assist the Technologist with patients and room set-up. Performs some office duties, intensive telephone duties involving scheduled procedures, taking messages, directing calls and follow-up calls, greets and interacts with patients in a courteous and professional manner. Assists the Radiologist and other Imaging personnel as necessary. Ensures a safe, professional and organized work area and atmosphere are maintained in the Imaging Department.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participates in hospital or departmental performance improvement activities.
  • Prepares room, equipment, medicine and materials as needed for patients.
  • Performs various office functions (i.e. faxing, keying, filing, etc.)
  • Answers multi-line telephone.
  • Greets patients and visitors courteously and professionally.
  • Assist the Radiologist, Ordering & Attending Physicians, Technologists and other Imaging personnel as necessary.
  • Assembles paperwork.
  • Ensures a professional and organized work area/atmosphere are maintained in Imaging Department.
  • Assists with other duties as assigned by the Director, Imaging Manager and Office Coordinator.
  • Participates in hospital or departmental performance improvement activities.
  • Transports patients to and from Imaging Department.
  • Prepares patient for exam if required.
  • Assists Technologist with difficult patients
  • Assists patients with care and comfort them during the transport to the Imaging Department.
  • Maintains and disinfects the wheelchairs and stretchers daily.
  • Prepares procedure room.
  • Stocks supplies and linen.
  • Ensures procedure room is ready for next shift.
  • Obtains pertinent information and pre-screens patients in advance via phone.
  • Obtains laboratory values for procedures requiring contrast when applicable.
  • Discusses procedure with patient in layman terms to help reduce anxiety associated with procedure.
  • Will inform Technologist of specific patient concerns and/or relay pertinent information prior to procedure

Qualifications

Experience:

  • General office experience with direct patient contact or interaction preferred.
  • BLS certification from HCA approved vendor or obtained within initial 90 days of employment.

Special Qualifications:

  • Computer experience
  • Perform simple arithmetic
