Summary:

Applies technical expertise and experience to perform operational duties in support of mechanical and electrical engineers who develop solutions to problems or challenges with design and/or operation of the equipment being managed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Locates malfunctions, performs repairs, refurbishments, installations, builds and maintains mechanical and/or electronic equipment. Conducts tests, performs equipment setup, operations, monitoring and measuring
  • Gathers data, supports engineers in design questions/challenges on prototypes/units and testing equipment
  • Supports engineers with validation of new test methods, provides technical direction and training to other technicians, and provides logistics and training support to customers
  • Able to read drawings and follow work instructions
  • Maintains and calibrates test equipment, develops and maintains metrics, builds prototypes and panel assemblies, works directly with engineering staff to develop manufacturability in designs. Corrects malfunction in communication equipment
  • Performs research, proposes and implements solutions that will improve efficiency, quality, processes, or reduce cost and waste
  • Provides internal and external support between department, engineering and research

You Must Have:

  • 2 year Technical Associate's Degree (preferably Electronics)
  • Five (5) or more years of electrical components / systems work experience.
  • US citizenship needed to obtain and maintain required US Dept of Energy "Q" level security clearance

  • Ability to apply advanced design, development, evaluation, and quality control techniques to complex engineering projects
