Job Description
    DutiesSummary

    You will serve as the Command Occupational Safety and Health Director in the Safety Directorate, Office of the Vice Commander, Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command Atlantic, located in Norfolk, VA.


    Responsibilities
    • You will plan, direct and administer all facets of the Occupational Safety and Health Program.
    • You will enforce mishap investigations, reporting and record keeping and the systamatic compilation and analysis of mishap reports.
    • You will serve as a supervisor for Safety Office Core staff.
    • You will provide feedback to staff on performance and prepare and approve performance evaluation.

    • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

    • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
    • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

    QualificationsYour resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing duties such as: 1) Directing a headquarters level Safety Department; 2) Developing and directing Safety Program requirements particularly those applicable to industrial operations, construction, maintenance, environmental, utilities, transportation, and maritime operations; 3) Supervising senior Safety Professionals and Program Managers/Analyst; 4) Enforcing and overseeing mishap investigations, reporting and record keeping, and the systematic compilation and analysis of mishap report data to determine the severity of hazards to personnel and property; 6) Planning and developing initiatives to address program compliance, continuous improvements, and execution of strategies; 7) Assisting in the development of and conducting safety and health training programs for senior leadership, manager, supervisors, employee representatives and non-supervisory personnel; and 8) Providing leadership and support in conducting industrial exposure surveys for potential hazards in all operating areas.
