Department Overview
The men and women of Electric Operations ensure the delivery of safe and reliable electric service to our customers. Electric Operations is responsible for every aspect of PG&E's electric distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, asset management, business planning, restoration and emergency response. The System Automation department is responsible for oversight of automation and control systems installed over a large geographic area of California, and owned by PG&E. The responsibilities include managing all aspects of automation systems (i.e. RTUs, metering, annunciation, HMIs, etc.) of various vintages including but not limited to asset planning, work scheduling, compliance, and application support. PG&E is geographically located in a strategic area of California and WECC and has an extensive 500kV network that provides stability to the California and Western Interconnection. Thus, it is imperative to maintain a highly skilled staff to provide oversight of the automation cyber systems in PG&E. We are seeking an experienced professional to join the System Automation department where you will be part of a motivated team helping to set strategic direction of keeping automation cyber systems and new innovative solutions compliant which allows PG&E to operate the grid of the future safely.

Position Summary
The Automation Compliance Supervisor lead a team of Automation Compliance Specialists and Technical Support staff whose job is focused on NERC CIP compliance and the protection of PG&E transmission automation systems from being compromised. The incumbent’s primary role is to apply automation and compliance subject matter expertise to conduct business with applicable laws, regulations, internal and external standards and guidelines. The supervisor is responsible for planning, implementing, deploying, and maintenance of security solutions to ensure security of PG&E infrastructure at Electric Substations. They will have extensive knowledge and broad functional experience with NERC CIP standards to help ensure Automation systems including but not limited to secure gateways, RTUs, 500kV FACTS, metering, annunciation and IMS systems remain compliant with PG&E policies. The Automation Compliance leadership role is viewed as an integral strategic partner to the Electric Operations, Protection, Test and Automation leadership team. He/She must be able to work with individual contributors, supervisor and manager level leaders in the Electric Operations organization to influence decision making, and quickly gain credibility and trust of both leadership and peers.
As supervisor of the team, you will be responsible for the prioritizing of resources activities, developing and maintaining work-plans to manage the day to day activity of the Automation Compliance team. The successful candidate will participate on the System Automation Leadership Team to establish strategies and goals to meet our vision and mission.

Qualifications

Minimum:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent relative working experience
5 years of related experience in electric utility automation systems

Desired:
Advanced knowledge of System Automation processes and procedures, work activities, and roles and relationship between, System Automation, System Protection, Test, and Compliance groups.
Working Knowledge of California and Federal regulatory requirements such as Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC), California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), and California Independent System Operator (CAISO).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal to effectively communicate to a variety of audiences.
Project management and facilitation skills.
Minimum of 3 years of job experience leading teams, developing and executing organizational work plans including employee development and coaching
MS Office, Word, PowerPoint, & Excel.
Working knowledge of SAP Work Management and working knowledge of enterprise databases.
Ability to review and assess issues, work independently and with other business teams on an impartial basis.
Ability to anticipate issues and concerns to provide proactive, timely and professional communications
Competency in developing and delivering communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences
Competency in building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives

Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to perform all necessary responsibilities of this position and as requested by the Sr. Manager. This person will foster and promote teamwork among Automation Compliance team members, automation engineers, and other organizations. In particular, the successful candidate will:
Provide daily oversight of Automation Compliance Specialists located across the PG&E service territory
Coordinate the alignment of company standards with external regulatory requirements.
Collaborate with leadership to oversee adherence of operations to processes and practices that comply with standards.
Responsible for any necessary gap analysis and annual certification efforts in assigned area of the business including the reporting of compliance or the self-reporting of non-conformance.
Spearheads any required memos of understanding between departments collaborating for compliance purposes and concerning protection and control schemes.
Assess, select and lead efforts to set in place systems to track compliance documentation and records management, concerning automation systems.
Provides leadership for the assigned area of business with respect to federal regulatory audits: acts as a point of contact for regulators, identifies expert witnesses, oversees internal data collection efforts.

Perform all necessary supervisory responsibilities, including but not limited to, work assignment, coaching, performance appraisal, development plan, special project assignment, contract administration, manager vacation relief, training coordination.
