The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia is one of the 12 regional Reserve Banks that, together with the Board of Governors in Washington, D.C., make up the Federal Reserve System. It helps formulate and implement monetary policy, supervises banks and bank and savings and loan holding companies, and provides financial services to depository institutions and the federal government. The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia serves eastern and central Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey, and Delaware.
The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia is seeking a Junior or Senior year college student for a summer internship in the Bank's Research department. Students majoring in Economics, Statistics, or related field will be considered.
Duties and Responsibilities:Use a database on U.S. campaign contributions to identify the ideological differences between candidates were in gubernatorial elections. Relate the degree of ideological differences to partisan differences in economic outcomes using data on state level fiscal policy and economic activity. Time-permitting, involvement in ongoing research on inference on dynamic time-series models for the U.S. economy is possible.
Required Skills:Knowledge the language R, SQL optional
Candidate should demonstrate strong attention to detail
Candidate must enjoy working with numbers, and debugging skills
Candidate must take initiative and have good organizational skills
Excellent communication skills in both written and oral
Flexible and able to effectively plan and manage one’s own time to work on multiple projects.
Other Requirement:Background investigations including drug testing are required for all new hires as a condition of employment, after the job offer is made.
