Job Description

SUMMARY:

Under the general supervision of the Director, Nursing ADN provides clinical instruction and conducts clinical conference according to an approved course syllabus using accepted and effective teaching methods; develops daily lesson plans; advises and tutors students; maintains current and accurate attendance and grade records; remains current in applicable program teaching field; participates in faculty meetings, instructional seminars and in-service training sessions. Participates in school activities such as faculty meetings, student functions, graduation exercises, open houses, new student orientations, and advisory board meetings.

Serves as an educator, role model, mentor and facilitator. Creates an educational environment which fosters innovation, responsiveness, and accountability. Focuses extensively on facilitating student learning associate with prescribed course and program learning outcomes. Actively and substantively participates in assessment of student learning activities, including simulation, to maximize the potential for students to learn what is necessary to meet prescribes outcomes. Vigorously upholds a culture of academic.

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:

Must have 3 years of occupational experience in the subject field or in a closely related field.

Direct patient care experience within the previous five (5) years in the nursing area to which he or she is assigned, which can be met by:

(A) one (1) year’s continuous, full-time or its equivalent experience providing direct patient care as a registered nurse in the designated nursing area;

OR

(B) one (1) academic year of registered nurse level clinical teaching experience in the designated nursing area or its equivalent that demonstrates clinical competency.

Completion of at least one (1) years’ experience teaching courses related to registered nursing or completion of a post-baccalaureate course which includes practice in teaching registered nursing.

Must demonstrate training in educational methods, testing and evaluation and evidence strength in instructional methodology, delivery and techniques as indicated by evaluation by supervisory personnel within 30 days of beginning instruction.

Working with online learning management systems to further engage the student learning process desirable.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Products, especially Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and other MS office products as needed.

EDUCATION:

A minimum of a baccalaureate degree from an academic institution accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency that is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education which includes course work in nursing or in natural, behavioral or social sciences relevance to nursing practice.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

Current unencumbered Registered Nurse License in California required.

Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
