Job Description

The Mental Health Services Oversight & Accountability Commission (MHSOAC) is seeking a student assistant to work under close supervision of the Chief of Stakeholder Engagement and Grants. The student assistant will provide support to the Associate Governmental Program Analysts and Health Program Specialists in the review of contracted stakeholder and local assistance grant deliverables, collaboration and program monitoring meetings, and communications efforts such as web postings and informational documents. The student assistant will participate in program monitoring sessions with twelve contracted stakeholder organizations and will create summaries of the meeting content.



Conditions of Employment

This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited, student position. Employment in all positions with University Enterprises, Inc. is dependent upon the mutual consent of University Enterprises, Inc. and the employee. This means that either University Enterprises, Inc. or the employee can, at any time, terminate the employment relationship at will, with or without cause.

Work Schedule

Flexible Hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Final work schedule to be mutually agreed upon between supervisor and student.

  • Due to COVID-19, student will be required to work according to the current UEI remote workplace policy and sign a UEI telework agreement.


Additional Work Schedule

Student Assistant and Graduate Assistant employees generally work up to 20 hours per work week (Sunday – Saturday) during the academic year and up to 40 hours per work week during breaks; Winter, Spring & Summer.

Student Assistants are not permitted to telecommute or work remotely.

The role of the Mental Health Services Oversight & Accountability Commission (MHSOAC) is to oversee the implementation of the Mental Health Services Act (MHSA). The MHSOAC is also responsible for developing strategies to overcome stigma. At any time, the MHSOAC may advise the Governor or the Legislature on mental health policy.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be reliable and have good written and verbal skills.
  • Must have at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA


Prerequisites

Must be a college student attending classes during the regular term (Fall, Spring and Winter, if applicable), at one of the accredited colleges or universities on our affiliation list.

Students must be enrolled at a minimum in; six semester units or nine quarter units for undergraduate students; four semester units or six quarter units for graduate students.

Duties and Responsibilities

The student assistant will participate in staff meetings of the Stakeholder Engagement and Grants (SEG) division, offering input on best methods for the completion of tasks related to engagement and technical assistance provided to all contractors and grantees. The student assistant will support staff in the creation of survey response summaries from the Mental Health Student Services Act and crisis mental health Triage grantees.The student assistant (SA) uses various software applications such as Microsoft Office products, Outlook, and proprietary data entry tools to perform assigned tasks. The SA abides by office policies and procedures; is proficient in reading comprehension; takes notes during meetings; and follows routine oral and written direction. The incumbent works closely under the supervision of the Chief of Stakeholder Engagement and Grants.



Physical Requirements

Sit for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; use of office equipment including computer workstations, telephones, calculators, copiers, printers, scanners, and fax machines, with or without a reasonable accommodation.



Working Conditions

Work is performed in a telework capacity due to the restrictions that Covid -19 has placed on the office environment.
