The Operations Decision Science team at Delta seeks a senior operations researcher to lead the development of data-driven models and solutions aimed at continually improving airline performance and decision making.

An appropriate candidate will have deep technical knowledge ofoperationsresearch optimization models, reinforcement learning, simulation models, or machine learning techniques with the ability to generate performant, modular code to support these models. The candidate should have excellent organizational and communication skills and feel comfortable in a fast-paced environment. The role will support the delivery of decision support applications based on optimization models and data science.

Primary Functions:
Develop advanced analytics solutions for complex business problems (large network-based environment)
Execute data analytics transformation at Delta Air Lines
Guide, train and mentor scientists within the team
Advise and review approaches and techniques used in ODS projects
Encourages best data science practices within the team
Apply critical thinking to solve airline problems
Partner with Information Technology to optimize and enhance the database environment for optimal efficiency and best data science practices
Practices safety-conscious environment resulting in employee safety and well-being

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)
M.S. or Ph.D. in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or equivalent combination of education and experience
7+ years of deep technical experience building operationsresearch optimization models, simulation models, RL techniques and/ormachine learning
Advanced knowledge of Python, optimization solvers and open source OR/ML tools
Experience developing computationally efficient scalable algorithms in production environments
Experience advising science and research teams
Experience developing technical training and curriculum
Experience leading multi-developer software products and development teams
Strong written, oral communication, and interpersonal skills
Strong project management, organizational, and prioritizations skills
Must be able to interact and collaborate at all levels within Operations Analysis & Performance, OCC, cross-divisional working groups, and outside entities
