Job Description


Organization Summary:

The Corporate IT (CIT) organization is responsible for all facets of architecture, software development and production support of key corporate systems supporting areas such as Finance, Revenue, Treasury, Human Resources, Legal, Risk, Compliance, Sales, Marketing, Customer Service and End User support.

The Client Systems Team manage the CRM and custom applications for Sales, Services, Marketing and Product teams. The Client Systems Analytics team provide data as a service to downstream systems and enable self-service reporting and insights from these applications to empower the Business to make data driven decisions.

The Staff Data Engineer(ELT/ETL/Power BI) within the Client Systems Analytics Delivery team will be responsible for solution design, development and implementation of Data and Analytics solutions on data platforms (SQL server and/or Hadoop) . This position requires designing database schemas for data as a service, perform data engineering activities (ELT/ETL) to ingest data from multiple applications on the cloud and on premise and build Power BI data set and enable self- service reporting on Power BI. This position requires close collaboration with Product owners to understand Business goals and requirements and implement Data Analytics solutions for Sales and Marketing Teams following Agile methodologies. This position requires collaboration with multiple global IT teams including application teams, database teams, Infrastructure and Platform teams and respond to changing Business priorities with agility.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in Technology project delivery activities such as understanding Business requirements, conceptual technology approach, participate in Quarterly PI planning with Business, architect solutions, perform POCs where required, build and enhance scalable solutions and support systems in production in a DevOps model.
  • Work as member of scrum teams and provide solutions for complex reporting requirements and play the role of a development lead owning Technology solutions.
  • Work as a Subject matter expert on data from Sales and Marketing domain
  • Architect and build scalable data management systems – on premise to support 1000+ users
  • Understand application systems, develop the source to target mapping documents and ETL/ELT code to load data from Cloud applications (MS Dynamics) other CRM applications to databases on premise
  • Develop workflows using ETL tools like Pentaho( etc.
  • Develop database components on premise databases (SQL Server) and/or Hadoop
  • Develop Power BI data models to support self service reporting
  • Support QA, UAT and performance testing phases of development cycle and implement DevOps principles from development to deployment to production
  • Partner with IT groups such as Engineering, Product, Security, Data and Reporting Platform team and Infrastructure on project delivery activities and security findings remediation.
  • Perform POC and build prototypes based on business and technology requirements
  • Own Technology solutions and provide guidance to Scrum teams (developers and Qa team members)
  • Provide support to Global Power BI users
  • Work with vendors and security and Infrastructure teams to resolve issues or find solutions
  • Collaborate with Business on Data governance activities

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office two days a week, Tuesdays and Wednesdays with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% of the time based on business needs.


Qualifications


Basic Qualifications:

  • 5 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelors Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 6 or more years of work experience with a Bachelors Degree or 4 or more years of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD
  • Bachelors or Graduate degree in Computer Science/ Engineering, Information Science or a related discipline with strong technical experiences highly desired
  • Minimum of 3-4 years’ experience with Master’s degree or 5-6 years' experience with Bachelors in building data pipelines and utilizing data engineering techniques like ELT or ETL for building and scaling reporting and Analytical solutions
  • Strong expertise in Data analysis and SQL and hands on knowledge of Relational data bases like Sql server required
  • Experience with using data visualization and Business Intelligence tools like Power BI (preferred) or Tableau required
  • Extensive experience with ingesting and transforming data using ETL tools like SSIS, Pentaho, Informatica is required
  • Experience using FetchXML, DAX functions, building Power BI data models required
  • Experience building reports required
  • Experience with MS Dynamics components nice to have
  • Experience in provisioning databases and application servers (on premise or on cloud) highly desirable
  • Experience with ensuring data quality for reporting required
  • Experience in Python, PowerShell, job scheduling (Control M) and version control, implementing CI/CD for Reporting components nice to have
  • Experience with embedding dashboards in MS Dynamics, Power apps, Power Automate, Azure Cloud components nice to have
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure like Azure data lake, Snowflake, AWS nice to have
  • Experience working in a scrum team owning end to end solutions
  • Presentation skills and good communication skills presenting ideas and insights to Business is highly desired.
  • Experience on Sales and Marketing highly desirable
  • Strategic thinker and good business acumen to orient data engineering to the business needs of internal clients
  • Demonstrated analytical rigor, strong attention to detail, team oriented, collaborative, agile and flexible style
