Job Description:

Playing a major role in the implementation and support of Intel/AMD based server systems;

the Sr. Windows Systems Administrator provides technical leadership,

advanced administrative and business knowledge to ensuring reliable Windows Infrastructure and service-support to our customers.

The position has responsibility for administration, maintenance, and support of servers running current and future versions of Windows operating systems with specific focus on Microsoft IIS, Clustering, FTP and Hyper-V services, as well as COTS applications.

This position also provides technical guidance to junior staff.

Example: Develops and administers systems and procedures necessary to ensure the timely and accurate payment of corporate debts, payroll, and obligations.

Administers current and future versions of Microsoft servers; installs, configures, and troubleshoots operating systems and related software to ensure IIS, clustering, FTP and COTS related servers are built and maintained to meet business service levels.

Effectively coordinates server placements, storage, and network allocation; communicates project deadlines to ensure on time project delivery as necessary; enlists assistance of appropriate personnel in other teams to resolve issues as necessary.

Performs routine operating system, infrastructure service and hardware preventative maintenance based on hardware and Microsoft best practices.

20%

Works to complete service requests and resolves incidents submitted through the Help Desk, Desktop Support, Enterprise Support Services and other Global Business Solutions & Technology (GBS&T) departments.

15%

Performs routine capacity planning tasks for systems and services. Proactively monitors the environment. Generates reports showing the utilization of servers.

10%

Mentors and trains junior team members on the technical and procedural aspects of the environment.

5%

Documents server and application recovery processes and configurations to ensure that recovery (where necessary) can meet recovery time objective.

Nature and Purpose of Interaction

Customers (Windows Team & Application Mgmt Groups)

The incumbent works closely with Customers (with guidance from the appropriate Windows Systems Managers) to deliver appropriate technologies based upon specific business requirements.

Data Center Operations (DCO) / Network Services

The incumbent supports hardware installation and removals as well as works with the DCO and NDS teams to resolve any incidents occurring in our data centers that may impact the performance or availability of our servers.

Enterprise Security

The incumbent works with the Enterprise Security team to ensure secure access to Windows servers. Additionally, the incumbent works to define procedures for creating new user accounts and defining access methods to Windows servers.

Help Desk

The incumbent resolves / fulfills incidents and requests submitted through the Help Desk. Other interactions include scheduling of server maintenance and mass communication to TRP associates.

GBS & T Management

The incumbent communicates new technologies and solutions to Management as needed.
