Job Description

Primary responsibility is to provide directed support to assigned Synagro Facility operations in leading efforts in problem definition, data collection/analysis and development of data driven recommendations to Facility and Corporate resources that result in problem resolution. In essence, leading the root cause and corrective action through resolution. Secondary responsibility to provide general process review, engineering support and improvement for high cost maintenance and repairs, operations optimization, data acquisition and analysis, troubleshooting, outage planning and execution of Capital Projects to improve safety, efficiency, reliability and reduce costs at Synagro Facilities.


Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Self-directed resource with leadership tendencies that allow for situational deployment success in obtaining Facility management buy-in to process and data driven problem solving and solution implementation.
  • Identification of facility operations design basis KPIs and development of data monitoring and data analysis processes that result in facility operations utilization in defining and executing on day to day success.
  • Develop best practices, data review and collection to improve safety, production rates and product quality.
  • Provide engineering support to existing facility operations for problem identification and resolution, implementation and training of new strategies to improve operational safety, reliability and efficiency.
  • Provide technical evaluation, recommendations and guidance for capital project development and implementation, including the design, modification and/or upgrade of plant equipment, while identifying and suggesting costs reduction opportunities.
  • Monitor assigned project scope, schedule and budget in accordance with established guidelines and standards.
  • Conduct pro-active investigation and root cause analysis to identify engineering design flaws and/or operational challenges.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Self-Starter – Motivated and driven individual that can develop a clear path forward on assigned projects from problem definition through to complete implementation of approved solution.
  • Radically Serving Customers – Working with facility based teams, in combination with the ability of Seeking to Understand in service of providing leadership in the role is vital to buy-in, collaboration and successful problem resolution.
  • Continually Improving – Identification of the needs and development of standardized best practices and training thereof.
  • Business Minded – development of data driven solutions that are in line with the reality of the business model and outcomes required.
  • Wastewater or biosolids processing knowledge preferred but not required
  • Computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office programs

Education/Experiences:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering – preferably Chemical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
  • 10-15 years’ experience in industrial services or manufacturing operations, maintenance and engineering project execution and management
  • Experience in combustible dust process safety applications highly desired
  • Six Sigma Certification - Green belt (minimum) experience in driving lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and root cause analysis
  • Broad based process improvement experience

  • 25% - 50% travel required.
