Job Description

Cognosante is seeking a highly motivated Senior Microsoft Exchange and Cloud Productivity Services Administrator to join our team of professionals supporting our US Army client. The position is located in Oklahoma City, OK. This position supports the effective cybersecurity posture of US Army information systems. This position is responsible for supporting the cybersecurity Assessment & Authorization (A&A) processes for information systems and evaluating / enforcing cross-domain compliance requirements. The successful candidate must work closely with other program cybersecurity professionals to ensure end-user information systems and applications meet appropriate security measures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as technical authority for Microsoft Exchange Server and Cloud Productivity and Collaboration Services.

    Brief government personnel on ongoing enterprise issues and incidents, including impacts, mitigations, corrections, risks and benefits of proposed actions.

    Train, counsel, and mentor less senior technicians.

    Install, configure, administer and maintain currently supported and subsequent versions of Microsoft Exchange Server.

    Configure, administer and maintain DISA enterprise Cloud Productivity and Collaboration Service offerings within a commercial cloud Software as a Service tenant construct

    Maintain and manage exchange mailbox accounts and distribution lists.

    Maintain and manage cloud tenant user groups and administratively set permissions.

    Perform appropriate security measures pertaining to content to include cleaning of unauthorized disclosure of classified information, PII, malicious e-mail and SPAM.

    Provide support for all server applications including, but not limited to, SCOM, HBSS, CommVault, BladeLogic and Tumbleweed, if installed.

  • Provide system and application, administrative maintenance and troubleshooting support for Infrastructure as a Service cloud based server applications to include account management services, reporting services and remote tenant administration services
  • Perform backups IAW applicable regulations, policies and guidance and ensure backup failures are properly addressed.
  • Monitor system activity utilizing SCOM and take appropriate action.
  • Monitor tenant performance utilizing cloud based monitoring and alerting software.
  • Provide technical oversight and consultation.
  • Analyze, monitor, troubleshoot and diagnose Exchange platforms to ensure product optimization, integrity, availability, compatibilit, and functionality are within prescribed parameters.
  • Perform trend analysis including, but not limited to system performance; recommend configuration or procedural changes; and participate in planning activities.
  • Use provided ticket management system to properly document and resolve problems.
  • Interact/coordinate with service desks, technical staff and customers to resolve technical problems or provide information.
  • Exhibit effective and professional interpersonal skills to include written and oral communications.
  • Document processes, procedures and activities.
  • Provide required support for disaster recovery efforts (real or simulated).
  • Properly handle documents according to appropriate regulations and guidance including, but not limited to classification level.
  • Adhere to all applicable government and security requirements, processes and regulations.
  • Provide callback and after-hours support.
  • Work non-prime shift.
  • All work is on-site; remote/telework is not an option.


Required Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Active Secret DoD Clearance with SIPRNet access
  • Bachelor's degree or minimum 3 + years' equivalent work experience as Enterprise Messaging Administrator 2010 or MCTS, a current vernor supported version of Microsoft Exchange Server and/or Cloud Productivity Services Tenant Administration
  • Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) certification is required
