Job Description

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Art Direction and Creative Consistency

  • Partner with President to hold firm visual brand identity and guidelines for logo use, typeface, fonts, layout styling, color blocking, spacing and maintain branding consistency and be the gatekeeper of the aesthetic.
  • Develop seasonal themes, concepts and stories with melin Design and Marketing Team(s).
  • Create, implement and enforce unique identifiable stylized design characteristics in all marketing asset creation.
  • Calendar Management: actively monitor GTM timelines to produce projects on calendar and be a self starter to be in front of art and creative needs ensuring creative is ready for deployment on time.
  • Work with Management to develop seasonal themes, concepts, and stories and create visual briefs for Seasonal Storyline concepts, colors, theme development and artistic consistency.
  • Identify when freelance help is needed and manage/direct any outsourced graphic artists to be sure our deliverables are met.
  • Oversee collaborative art/design projects with melin partners and their art teams to ensure timelines and deliverables are met.
  • Partner with merchandising and product development teams to meet business goals.
  • Partner with Sales team to identify opportunities to add value through creative to enhance the sell through and storytelling creative tools.
  • Partner with Marketing and Digital Marketing team(s) to be sure we are creating and obtaining all graphic and content creative assets on time and on brand.
  • Oversee Asset creation and consistency to deadlines for marketing support ie;
    • Email Ad creation
    • Social Ad creation
    • Social Post curation
    • Web banner(s) layout and graphic creation
    • Key D2CWholesale Email Campaign creation - building relationships with key accounts to maximize D2CW business
    • Planning, organizing and overseeing photo shoots, organizing talent.
    • Laying out and building catalog(s).
  • Oversee the asset approval and processing process including adding naming conventions and filing on the Team drive/server.
  • Partner with the international regions to drive global alignment while capitalizing on key market trends.
  • Be prepared to present campaign ideas and visual decks internally and in larger meetings.

Graphic Design

  • Art Creation for product: developing art, prints, embellishments, packaging and trim packages for melin products.
  • Art creation for sales tools; ie catalog layouts, POP and fixture design, pitch/presentation decks.
  • Execute graphic projects from start to finish: from sketches & concept iteration to delivery of a final product along with the appropriate versioning.
  • Provide innovative design solutions across all mediums including print, digital, social media and emerging new media platforms while reinforcing our department objectives and goals.
  • Be a creative thinker who can solve complex design challenges and develop cutting-edge, compelling, original designs that are within brand standards.
  • Ability to follow brand and seasonal style guides with provided direction from senior creative team.
  • Ability to organize and prep files for print production and follow naming conventions and asset management system.
  • Comfortable presenting/proposing ideas, taking direction, participating in internal brainstorming sessions with other Team members, working closely with Project Managers to deliver projects on time and on budget, prioritizing workload, and managing multiple projects efficiently.

Experience and Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree required. Completion of additional college level courses in design is preferred.
  • 5+ years of successful experience as graphic artist/designer in lifestyle apparel, accessories or related product desired.
  • 5+ years of Adobe creative suite experience in Illustrator, Photoshop, In-design.
  • Previous experience in a management/leadership role preferred.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to organize and execute to key deadlines across a multitude of projects and initiatives.
  • Ability to lead and manage Jr designers and outside design contractors to achieve key deliverables and deadlines while maintaining creative consistency.
  • Demonstrates strong initiative; willingness to take ownership for results, and effective communicator.
  • Strong influencing and partnering skills; reach out and operate as a team player, both internally and externally.
  • Generates and provides communication and data to President such as creative briefs.
  • Ability to partner with product design team and outside designers to achieve brand and product objectives.
  • Demonstrate a passion for premium product and brand building.
  • Team player attitude required.
  • Experience with Asana is a plus.
