Job Description
Overview: Aerojet Rocketdyne is an innovative company delivering solutions that create value for its customers in the aerospace and defense markets. The company offers a complete line of propulsion products for launch vehicles, missile defense, and advanced hypersonic propulsion. With the increasing growth of our work in the air breathing hypersonic programs we have a need for additional engineering support.
Aerojet Rocketdyne is seeking a Sr. Engineer, Project Engineering to support air breathing hypersonic program assignments in West Palm Beach, FL.
This position maybe filled at this level as posted or one level higher.Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each): Working with minimal direction, this position guides the successful execution of major projects and may function as a project leader driving the technical development, fabrication, test and production of engine systems.
65% - Lead or support engineering teams working on hypersonic propulsion development. Direct and coordinate multi-discipline engineering tasks to meet program requirements.
15% - Manage technical progress and cost. Interface with the program manager, product line chief engineer, Aerojet Rocketdyne customers and other Aerojet Rocketdyne functional organizations to understand and develop resolution to program technical issues.
10% - Provide technical consultation to program management and business development organizations on business development activities such as writing white papers or preparing and presenting technical briefings to customers.
5% - Technical lead on proposals to government customers or prime contractors for propulsion development or technology programs.
5% - Provide written and verbal status reports to Aerojet Rocketdyne Management, and provide leadership at product team meetings.Requirements: Requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering (or other related field) and a minimum of 7 years of experience on propulsion projects, including engineering team lead experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Engineering development, manufacturing, and supplier integration knowledge desirable. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software required.
May be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level. Requires U.S. Citizenship, U.S. Permanent Residency or other status as a U.S. Person. Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
Work Environment/Physical Requirements: Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office and campus setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit or stand and maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require occasional walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization. Must be able to travel by air, car or train.
