Sr Business Operations Specialist

Venable LLP is seeking a detail-oriented individual for an exciting opportunity in our Washington, DC Headquarters. The Sr. Business Operations Specialist (Financial Analyst) is responsible for providing comprehensive financial reporting and support to the Practice Management Department, the Chief Revenue Office, and Leadership, to assist with understanding profitability, operational efficiency, and overall organizational effectiveness.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for.

• Preparing monthly reporting for Firm Management, Division and Practice Group leadership, and Practice Management Team measuring and monitoring key performance metrics related to Division and Practice Group performance.
• Working with various leadership teams to develop and maintain databases to identify and track revenue growth, measure financial performance, and ascertain trends for each group, including timekeeper, client, matter, area of law, and industry level analysis.
• Performing Realization Analysis at the firm, client, and matter level with respect to Rates and Accounts Receivables.
• Coordinating with various teams to define, track and measure Firm and client performance for Fee Arrangements
• Identifying opportunities to improve overall profitability, productivity and efficiency with respect to established practice goals.

The successful candidate will demonstrate.

• Minimum of three years related experience conducting financial analysis, preparing financial reports and preparing/analyzing budget data.
• Proficiency in Excel and financial budgeting, reporting and modeling tools is also required.
• Must have experience working with mathematical concepts, including probability, statistics, fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions.
• Experience performing comprehensive analyses of financial data (including profitability analyses) and developing financial models and reports. Requires ability to formulate cost, pricing, and forecast models. Must be able to evaluate and summarize results of statistical analyses.
• Demonstrated experience developing and managing complex budgets, analyzing variance data and creating useful reporting tools.
