This is a Hybrid position within our IT Organization. The role will allow employees to work remotely, but will also require onsite work based on business needs. The selected candidate will be expected to live a commutable distance to the innovation center they are selected for. Relocation will be provided as needed

About the Software Engineer in Test
The First Mile Software Test Engineer will be responsible for working closely with the Onstar Insurance development team to ensure overall quality by building the right test infrastructure, tools, and lead best practices that enable the absolute best quality product. While primary focus of this role is test automation, this engineer will also be contributing to development projects. This team member will.

About the Software Engineer in Test
The First Mile Software Test Engineer will be responsible for working closely with the Onstar Insurance development team to ensure overall quality by building the right test infrastructure, tools, and lead best practices that enable the absolute best quality product. - Develop and drive automation test planning, development, and strategy to ensure product quality
- Contribute to Continuous Integration, Build, Test, and Deployment
- Build and maintain an automated test infrastructure and automation test harnesses for a multi-platform product that will be used to ensure quality in all aspects of the product
- Aggressively engage in the identification/remediation of software issues related to code quality, security and performance
- Document software solutions and ensure that technical documentation meets GM standards and assist with maintaining GM standards compliance
- Consistently follow the specified software development methodology
- Hold oneself and others accountable for demonstrating GMs values and cultural behaviors. Models GM behaviors and builds a winning culture.
- Establish processes and toolsets to maintain automation scripts and generate regular test reports, contributing ongoing streamlined data to development, design, and planning teams

Additional Job Description
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience with Agile teams that have regularly delivered software while practicing code review
- Over three years of software development experience designing, building, and maintain automation frameworks and/or high-quality software artifacts
- Experience in SQL (relational databases), key-value datastores, and document stores
- Experience in modern programming languages such as (C#, Python, Java).
- Experience in Web application automation test development using selenium, TestNG
- Experience using scripting language (JavaScript)
- Solid knowledge of Web Services (SOAP and REST).
- API Contract verification using tools such as Swagger
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to effectively communicate and translate feedback, needs and solutions
- Creative problem-solving skills that deliver elegant solutions to complex issues
- Strong teamwork focus and the ability to foster collaboration within and across teams
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or, equivalent combination of education and recent, relevant work experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven experience diagnosing issues from browser to infrastructure to network to database and all the way back
- Over 1 year utilizing platform and infrastructure as a service technologies and capabilities and their corresponding services (object store, configuration management, service registries, etc)
- Performance tuning, improvement, balancing, usability, automation
- Experience in mobile application automation test development (Native iOS and/or Android) using Perfecto or similar tools
- Experience using Git version control doing rebases, merges, and handling merge conflicts and
- Knowledge of Test Manager and Azure DevOps
- Work closely with Developers, QA and other project team members to analyze test results, locate problems, identify root causes and develop solutions
