Overview: The Waters Software team is seeking a Software Engineering Manager.
The Waters Software team is growing! We are growing both our SaaS and on-prem engineering teams and are seeking talent professionals to come and join the team!

About the role:
The Software Engineering Manager is a leadership position with the skills and experience to lead a software development team working on both Cloud and on-prem products.

  • Provide leadership of their Engineering Teams reporting into their organizational unit.
  • Work with Product Manager and Product Owners to ensure their teams have the right resources and skill sets to deliver against the product roadmaps.
  • Help to resolve team specific impediments.
  • Ensure that the Informatics Engineering Team are given the appropriate time to focus on learning, development and improvement initiatives as well as project work.
  • Recruit top grade engineering team members to build a strong, self-sufficient and integrated software organisation working within the overall departments hiring direction.
  • Encourage and develop new and existing Engineering Team members by mentoring and coaching.
  • Provide regular reviews including Performance, objectives and development with direct reports. Gather feedback from team members to ensure a fair and balanced review for each employee.
  • Ensure employees are provided with training required for their job and a training plan is provided where necessary.
  • Support and nurture a culture of innovation within their team and collaborate with the global Informatics engineering team.
  • Create, support and nurture a culture of Continuous Improvement in software engineering.
  • Provide input to overall Engineering department budget needs and manage spending in according with approved budget.
  • Communicate regularly with other Engineering Managers and stakeholders to ensure alignment with the other managers/sites.
  • Enable relationships for the Engineering Team with other cross department functions and other business units.
  • Mentor and motivate teams with the goal of enabling them to solve their own problems and grow technically/professionally.
  • Identify appropriate organizational improvements to support improved effectiveness.
Qualifications:Experience:
  • 8+ years experience in an area of software engineering.
  • 2+ years experience of managing and leading teams is highly desired.
Competencies:
  • Ability to solve complex problems
  • Ability to work with no direct supervision.
  • Ability to convert strategy into deliverables for the team.
  • Excellent communication and decision making skills
