Position Summary:

As a member of the recommendation team at Pandora/SiriusXM, you are responsible for building and maintaining the service that supports recommendation functionality interactions across our OEM, mobile and web applications and third party devices. You work closely with Product Management, Data Science partners to implement innovative features and product. You're comfortable working in a distributed team in a fast paced environment and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. You have a collaborative attitude and love working with others to find elegant solutions to complex problems, always keeping the end user in mind. You have a solid foundation of Java development and are comfortable building services at scale. You are familiar with cloud software deployment and monitoring tools and are enthusiastic about learning new technologies and skills. You have a background in Search or Recommender systems or a deep curiosity and willingness to learn. You're comfortable making architectural decisions and setting and helping set the technical direction for the team. You love sharing your knowledge and mentoring others.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Strong skills using Java, Javascript and other related technology stack
  • MS degree preferred.
Requirements and General Skills:
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to project professionalism over the phone and in person.
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multi-task, and work under shifting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to interact and work with staff at all levels.
  • Creative writing ability.
  • Must have legal right to work in the U.S.
Technical Skills:
  • Strong skills using Java, Javascript and other related technology stack
  • Strong knowledge of concurrency and multithreaded programming techniques
  • Strong knowledges with cloud(AWS or GCP)
  • Strong comprehension of high availability, multi-tier, mission critical and fault-tolerant system design
  • Strong knowledges of web services, implementation, debugging, performance tuning
  • Strong ability identifying and fixing performance bottlenecks and deliver code that meets performance budgets and goals
  • Strong knowledge of system monitoring using various tools such as Grafana, ELK or Prometheus.
  • Strong knowledge of database fundamentals and data persistence techniques, SQL and no SQL.
  • Strong comprehension of Agile/Scrum methodologies, Software Development Life Cycle, Source Control systems, and Configuration Management
  • Preferred: At least 7 years working experiences in streaming industry.
