Department Description:

Oracle’s Cloud Infrastructure team is building new technologies that operate at high scale in a broadly distributed multi-tenant cloud environment. Our customers run their businesses on our cloud, and our mission is to provide them with best in class infrastructure security.

Position Overview:

We’re looking for a hands-on leader with expertise and passion leading engineering teams, solving difficult problems in distributed systems, and creating a secure environment for our customers. If this is you, at Oracle you can build new teams and systems from the ground up. A leader at any level can have significant technical and business impact.

Job Responsibilities:

As a Senior Manager, Software Development you will lead an engineering team that owns the software design and development for major components of Oracle’s Cloud Infrastructure. You should be both a strong people and technology leader, excellent operations and ownership, be able to lead the way from inception to market for new complete services. You should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn.

Candidate Profile:

• 2 - 4+ years experience leading engineering teams, hiring, performance management.

• Demonstrated ability forming new engineering teams and collaborating across multiple teams in distributed geographies.

• 6 - 10+ years experience delivering and operating large scale, highly available distributed systems.

• Strong knowledge of distributed systems fundamentals and design patterns.

• Experience building security services or working in other infrastructure services a strong plus.

Top 3 skill sets / technologies in the ideal candidate:

1. Leadership of Software Engineering organizations with 10+ engineers.

2. 6 - 10+ years experience operating cloud services with 2+ years as a service owner.

3. Infrastructure and Security experience a huge plus.



Manage a team that designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a manager of the software engineering division, you will apply your knowledge of software architecture to manage software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications, operating systems and databases according to provided design specifications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and suggest improvements to the architecture.

Manages and controls activities in multi-functional areas of sections. Ensures appropriate operational planning is effectively executed to meet Corporate specifications. Demonstrated leadership and people management skills. Strong communication skills, analytical skills, thorough understanding of product development. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.
