We are currently looking for a full-time Site Geophysicist to support military munitions response projects.


Responsibilities:

  • The employee will be responsible for managing on-site geophysical operations at assigned project locations primarily within the United States and its territories. Ability and willingness to work at international project sites in remote or austere locations is also desired.
  • This position requires a willingness to travel, sometimes on short notice and for extended periods of time.
  • As a Site Geophysicist, specific daily duties include, but may not be limited to, the following: coordinating daily geophysical operations with UXO site management; ensure field operations comply with governing work and safety plans; perform geophysical data collection; train non-geophysical or less experienced staff; troubleshoot equipment problems in the field; and ensure field data packages are complete, assembled and uploaded for home office data processors
  • The Site Geophysicist will work closely with the Project Manager, Senior Project Geophysicist, Lead Data Processor and QC Geophysicist to coordinate project schedule and ensure production rates and quality metrics are met.
  • The Site Geophysicist will assist in preparation and/or review of technical memoranda or other project-related technical deliverables required by the work plan.
  • The position is based out of either the Golden, Colorado or Oak Ridge, Tennessee office. Relocation assistance is available.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree from accredited institution in Geology, Geophysics or closely related technical field of study is preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years of directly related experience conducting geophysical operations at military munitions response project sites.
  • Experience collecting data with EM61-MK2 and MetalMapper2x2 sensors.
  • Experience with RTK GPS, RTS, line and fiducial positioning systems and methods.
  • Knowledge of instrument-specific software for data collection and download.
  • Familiarity with Oasis montaj processing tools for performing in-field QC checks.
  • Experience conducting AGC surveys under a DAGCAP-accredited quality system.
  • Ability to learn new instruments, equipment, software, etc. in a field or virtual training setting.
  • Current 40-hr HAZWOPER training with 8-hr annual refresher.
  • Ability to operate effectively with minimal direct supervision.
  • Ability to work as part of a large, diverse team of professionals.
  • Willingness to support other Tetra Tech operations not related to munitions response (both geophysical and non-geophysical) during down time periods between projects, as necessary.
  • Valid driver’s license with a safe record.

Desired Additional Experience and Qualifications:

  • Experience using geophysical sensors other than those listed above (greater preference given to candidates with experience using advanced EMI sensors for dynamic and/or cued data collection).
  • Experience collecting EM61-MK2 data using multi-coil towed arrays.
  • Experience using positioning systems/methods other than those listed above.
  • Experience compiling and maintaining Access databases.
  • Experience processing QC tests and/or production geophysical data.
  • Willingness to learn additional skills.
  • Willingness to take on additional responsibilities commensurate with experience, with eventual goal of fulfilling Project or QC Geophysicist project role.
  • Desire to pursue professional geologist, engineer, or geophysicist registration.

Compensation:
