Shop Assistant

Location: Carroll, IA

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Schedule: Monday - Friday 3:00PM to 5:00PM, and Saturday 8:00AM to 12:00PM

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

This position is responsible for maintaining a clean work environment for employees and customers by cleaning the facility and detailing trucks and equipment, as needed. This position will also assist lead technicians in the shop with repairs, as time allows.

FOCUS:

• Essential Duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Clean floors by sweeping and mopping; gather and empty trash; put away shop supplies; and scrap items no longer needed in the Shop.
• Clean work bay area when repairs are complete.
• As time allows, assist with maintaining equipment by performing inspections to identify work and/or damaged parts, as well as assist with correcting vehicle deficiencies by replacing, repairing, and adjusting parts.
• Use shop provided tools as per intended use. If a tool is lost or broken, report it to management immediately.
• Complete continuing education courses, as directed.
• Maintain a professional image at all times.
• Must follow the Company's safety rules and safety policies.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

• Possess a strong attention to detail.
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information.
• Basic computer skills.
• Valid driver's license and dependable transportation.
• Must demonstrate and follow Housby's core values.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Ability to view a computer monitor.
• Alpha/numeric keyboarding.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally.
• Significant standing, walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, handling, pushing, and pulling.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• The work environment for this position is varied due to the differences in our work site. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic and outside weather conditions.
• Works indoors and outdoors.
• Noise level is usually moderate to very loud.
• May require some evening hours and weekends, when needed.
