About The Role

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Visual Designer to help us drive the awareness, perception and engagement of the Snapcommerce brand forward in our mission to help everyone experience the best life has to offer. You have strong opinions (and the experience to back them up) on what defines good visual design, what makes a robust-yet-flexible design system, and what it takes to express a brand’s values and personality through design. We take a highly collaborative approach to working with other teams, so you will also build deep relationships company-wide to ensure positive work streams. Candidates must have an eye for detail and the capacity to synchronize all project elements from concept to execution, helping design and art direct multiple projects of various sizes and timelines.
This is a new role, so you will help establish processes and define the execution as to how you’d like to approach the visual design team. This role is critical for Snapcommerce’s growth across several different business verticals, and you will have support from senior marketing team leadership as well as from your manager, the Creative Director.
You will lead design strategy, write creative briefs, perform hands-on design across various platforms and channels, and seamlessly switch between individual contributor and design leader. If you are passionate about great design across the entire range of touch-points, we’d love to hear from you. Challenges You'll Solve
    • Design Strategy: You’ll be the point person on expanding our new brand book (we’re right in the middle of a rebrand! fun!), and work closely with our brand agency on defining, applying, and monitoring the guidelines. You’ll also lead design concepts for new projects of various sizes and determine when to hand-off to production.
    • Design Execution: You’re just as comfortable designing a website in Figma as you are preparing graphics for a massive OOH display. You’ll work on print and digital ad campaigns, social media graphics, iconography, illustration, swag, even debit cards.
    • Tools & Technologies: Leverage the best and most efficient design tools, and maintain organization across all creative assets, working with the Creative Operations Manager. Ideally you are fluent in Figma, Adobe Creative Cloud, Sketch, and perhaps you’ve used Webflow, Smartly, Keynote, Powerpoint, and Miro or Mural too.
    • Planning & Production: Working with the Creative Operations Manager, you’ll participate in the strategic planning phase of projects, showing an understanding of design and production processes plus the lead times involved. You’ll also help with project prioritization, ensuring we’re spending our time on the projects that matter most and ladder up to departmental and company OKRs.
    • Vendor Management: Help source and manage relationships with creative vendors and freelancers to ensure the efficient use of company time and resources. You will also be their main point of contact for their questions and insights related to design.
About You
    • 5-7 (or more) years in-house or agency creative experience (Bonus points for working within a startup environment)
    • Demonstrated experience with the creative process, design systems, and creative production, as well as different roles within a creative team
    • Understanding of creative specifications for various print and digital assets (dimensions, resolution, file size, etc.)
    • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, where last minute changes can arise and require nimble problem-solving skills
    • Demonstrated ability to create design systems and manage asset libraries
    • Skilled collaborator with strong communication skills
    • Excellent relationship-building skills and a willingness to hold self and teammates accountable
    • Self-starter who works well independently; eager and willing to roll up your sleeves and focus on designing things, but also able to art direct contractors and manage your own direct reports as the team grows
    • Ability to remain calm and flexible while dealing with ambiguity
    • You have worked with vendors and contractors for at least 4 years and managed people directly for at least 2 years
    • Of course you have a stellar portfolio and love presenting your best work (you’ll be frequently pitching concepts to our Exec Team and other XFN partners in the role)
    • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud, Figma, Sketch, Miro and other design software required
    • Familiarity with Kanban, Agile, and Scrum project management a plus, as well as experience with Jira, Trello, Asana, and similar tools
