Summary of Position

The Systems Engineering team at FAIR Health is responsible for the operation, design, maintenance, troubleshooting, and protection of the company?s IT infrastructure. We are seeking an experienced Unix systems administrator, with strong experience with Linux, who will manage our Linux server environment. The ideal candidate would be well-versed in Unix in general, interested in integrations between Linux and other operating environments, and attentive to details. The candidate should be interested not just in the execution of such systems, but also in design and maintainability, including the security ramifications of any architectural choices.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Build, configure, and maintain Linux servers in a multi-location enterprise environment.
  • Work closely with networking, storage, database, and security stakeholders to support the environment and deliver projects in a timely manner.
  • Conduct capacity and performance analyses and provide system configuration change and upgrade recommendations.
  • Write and support systemd-based service management configurations.
  • Maintain common system package repositories for OS installations and updates.
  • Engage with other teams for project planning to ensure timely and successful completion of projects assigned to Systems Engineering.
  • Provide Linux technical knowledge and recommendations to staff members as required.
  • Manage, coordinate, and implement environment-wide patches and software updates.
  • Design and maintain reliable backup solutions for Linux environments.
  • Increase efficacy and accuracy via the use and creation of automated tools and scripting languages and develop uniform system administration procedures.
  • Design efficient and maintainable systems for new projects.
  • Administer the company?s AWS cloud computing environment (used primarily for development).
  • Plan and execute migrations from legacy environments to current Linux platforms.
  • Provide third-tier support for end users as required.
