Gracenote is building a Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team that will act as a horizontal across Gracenote Video Engineering and is looking for a self-starter to help jumpstart the team. In this role you will work closely with the Director of Software Engineering to define and implement best practices that bring better visibility to the availability and performance of our applications.
This fully flexible (remote / on-site / hybrid) role can be based onsite at the Gracenote office in Queensbury, at the Nielsen headquarters in New York City, or at the Nielsen Tech Hub in Oldsmar (Tampa). This role can also be fully remote / work from home anywhere in the Eastern Time Zone, or hybrid. Most of the current staff is either fully remote or hybrid. Responsibilities:
  • Work with Customer Experience (CX) & engineering teams to define & document SLI/SLOs
  • Lead efforts w/engineering teams to create common dashboards & alerting practices around the SLIs
  • Work as a liaison between engineering teams and SOS team (Service Operation Support) to help expand the type of support incidents the SOS team can manage
  • Liaison w/Nielsen Cybersecurity to assist engineering teams in understanding & implementing new security protocols
  • Work with engineering teams to ensure they have viable D/R plans
  • Engage with development teams throughout the life cycle to help develop software for reliability.
  • Apply analytics on historic data, such as incidents and usage patterns, to predict issues and measure effectiveness
  • Act as project lead on cross-team initiatives involving system resiliency and cybersecurity
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or a related field with an information technology focus
  • Experience with enterprise monitoring solutions like Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus, Alertra
  • Intermediate experience with SQL
  • Strong customer orientation with an affinity to proactively own, communicate, and follow-through projects and issues
  • Ability to work well in a cross-functional, environment with a highly collaborative, team oriented approach to problem solving
  • Experience or knowledge of current information security solutions and technologies, including cloud, network and host based products
  • DevOps engineering or IT systems administration experience
  • Experience with AWS and Linux command line
  • Preferably experience with at least one programming language
