Team members play a crucial role in the innovation of ArcGIS, which is utilized by Fortune 500 companies, national and local governments, public utilities, tech start-ups, and other organizations around the world. Our mission is simple yet powerful: enable user success, broaden the impact of GIS, and push our technology to make it better.

The Project Delivery Office (PDO) provides centralized support and consultation within the Esri Professional Services Division. The PDO is focused on enabling consistent, predictable, high-quality project delivery experiences for our customers. In this cross-cutting role, you will partner with project teams to implement best practices and lead high-visibility engagements across various industries. Your vision as a senior project management professional will facilitate technical enablement through an understanding of how Esri technology supports clients' mission requirements, business needs, and technical objectives.

Responsibilities:
  • Effectively manage complex technology projects and programs: Use your consulting and project management skills to lead virtual teams during all phases of implementation including requirements, analysis, design, build/configuration, and deployment. Lead project implementation with a focus on executive engagement, reporting, and escalation management. Manage select large and complex programs/projects identified as high risk/high visibility engagements; alternatively, coach/mentor/consult with PMs running these programs.
  • Project delivery monitoring: Proactively monitor identified delivery activities, including select higher risk/complexity engagements to support risk mitigation efforts.
  • Support/review high risk bids: Participate directly or in a review capacity for select strategic or high-risk proposal efforts with an eye towards risk mitigation.
  • Engage with our delivery teams and customers: Illuminate the value of location within customer workflows and drive substantial return on their investment in Esri's enterprise system by creating outstanding proposals and winning work with strategic customers. Regularly collaborate with and facilitate engagement between customers, external teams, and stakeholders.
  • Identify and capture best Esri project delivery practices: Engage with Professional Services delivery teams in various business units and lead (or contribute to) delivery knowledge sharing, project delivery governance elements, and project manager development activities.
  • Actively support initiatives: Contribute to PDO initiatives and goals around project health, governance, project manager enablement, and knowledge management.
Requirements:
  • 8+ years of experience as a senior project manager designing, implementing, and/or administering enterprise GIS solutions/systems that leverage ArcGIS (desktop, server, online, mobile)
  • Demonstrated knowledge and use of accepted project management practices
  • Demonstrated track record of engaging at executive level, applying strong stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to understand a challenge from multiple perspectives, drive the bottom of a problem and lead/guide a team to a successful outcome
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas, whether to other technical peers or non-technical project managers or customers
  • Demonstrable ability to evaluate and translate a customer’s business goals, objectives, and strategies into technical plans and solutions
  • Self-motivated, a proactive problem solver, team-oriented, and creative
  • Exceptional interpersonal, written/verbal communication, multi-tasking, and presentation skills
  • Entrepreneurial attitude and willingness to learn-you must thrive in a dynamic cross-functional team environment
  • Ability to travel at least 25% of the time (US and international)
  • Bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD in a relevant field
Recommended Qualifications:
  • Project Management Professional certification
  • An understanding of the range of GIS and information management software products, from desktop to server applications and development tools
