About the Position

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will perform all phases of mechanical projects from conception through start-up and delivery and serve as a point of contact with client personnel. The ideal candidate should also have the ability to manage small to medium size mechanical-focused projects.

Technical Knowledge

  • Develop complete mechanical construction drawing packages and ensure they are compliant with all national, local, and client codes and standards
  • Develop mechanical documents that include construction scopes of work, equipment lists, mechanical specifications/datasheets and equipment requisition documents
  • Perform calculations to develop & specify appropriate mechanical-related equipment & materials
  • Basic understanding of Pump Seal Piping Plans. Basic understanding of HVAC systems is a plus. Basic understanding of equipment and piping thermal stress analysis is also a plus
  • Must have the ability to identify manhours required for all mechanical engineering related tasks
  • As a small capital project manager take responsibility for cost, scope, and schedule of project related engineering deliverables
  • Provide engineering support for construction, commissioning, and startup
  • Prepare equipment Requests for Quotation and purchase orders
  • Develop and update schedules utilizing Microsoft Project for the various project phases
  • Familiar with Management of Change (MOC) process and documentation

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. Professional Engineering license a plus
  • Minimum Ten (10) years experience in the refinery, chemical, or petrochemical industry
  • Required knowledge of industry design standards and codes such as AMSE, ANSI, API and NFPA
  • Field work required in heavy industrial environments
  • Work with vendors to ensure the appropriate equipment is specified and supplied
  • Must be TWIC card certified or eligible

Non-Technical Skills

  • Must have strong verbal and communication skills in the English language
  • Team player with a strong drive to deliver against commitments
  • A self-starter, independent and adaptable who takes well to challenges.
  • Supervise work of others, both engineers and designers
  • Interfaces directly with the client’s representative as necessary
