Job Description

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyze, adjust and prepare various internal/external financial schedules and reports
  • Review transactions for compliance with applicable grant and contract terms as well as internal policies and procedures
  • Become familiar with all aspects of the programs overseen in the unit including regulations and reporting requirements to funders. Develop an understanding of all rate methodologies or key components which must be analyzed (i.e. day of care, etc.)
  • Examine and ensure the reliability and integrity of the financial reports. Work with program and staff members to identify potential ledger discrepancies and recommend new procedures where necessary to prevent deviations.
  • Research and assure that billing, collection, and revenue numbers are appropriate within the programs overseen in the core unit.
  • Provide explanations and recommendations for variances within program operation results from budget
  • Prepare budgets when required with analysts of staffing and position control
  • Prepare journal entries to reclassify expenses where required
  • Work to improve the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the Core Unit.
  • Perform all other duties assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required along with 5-7 years of experience in a similar function for a complex organization such as SCO. This position required a great attention to detail along with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to communicate professionally and effectively. Requires excellent Excel Skills, knowledge of nonprofit GAP and knowledge of financial software and applications.

This hybrid position located at 1 Alexander Place, Glen Cove NY

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY

Budgeting, vouchering, financial reporting, and financial analysis of operations. Strict attention to detail, ability to summarize and explain the meaning of financial results, strong accounting and analytical skills with a high degree of accuracy on a continuous and consistent basis.

ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE

This position reports to Fiscal Director.
