Job Description

The primary purpose of the Senior Estimator and Project Manager is to support sales and execution of construction and remodel jobs. This includes conducting sales appointments, assisting with other estimators' sales, writing complete and thorough scopes (with takeoffs) and ensuring jobs are executed properly. This role serves JW Home Improvement as the leader in construction expertise so extensive knowledge of regulations, codes, permit requirements and materials are required.

Responsibilities and Functions

  • Conduct sales appointments solo and in conjunction with other estimators; write scope of work according to JWHI Standards.
  • Provide "time and materials" estimates back to customers and follow up to close the sale.
  • Be available by phone call and video call to answer project questions from technicians and estimators.
  • Coordinate with architects and engineers as needed to secure drawings/plans, inspections, approvals, etc.
  • Pull necessary permits to ensure we're meeting MD, DC and VA requirements
  • Assist in ordering materials and facilitating approval from customer.
  • Work collaboratively with office staff, including billing and dispatch, to ensure job is completed smoothly.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Demonstrated a minimum of 10 years construction project management
  • 15 years experience in residential construction or home improvement field
  • Expertise with material selection, measurements and ordering for residential projects
  • Ability to interpret architectural plans and specifications
  • Advanced knowledge of building codes, permits and area legal requirements
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, plus a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Active support and effort toward the company vision and purpose
  • Fluent in Spanish is a plus
  • Preference to candidates with any of the following certifications:
  • American Institute of Constructors - Certified Professional Constructor (CPC) certification or Associate Constructor (AC)
  • Construction Management Association of America - Certified Construction Manager (CCM)
  • Certified Associate in Project Management or PMP
  • OSHA

The schedule for this role is Monday through Friday as well as every other Saturday. Depending on the season, the day may begin as early as 7 a.m. and continue into the evening on occasion. Additional time may be required based on the needs of our homeowners and technicians. The job will take place at a mix of the office and job sites.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
