Primary Job Functions


  • Preparation of quality system documentation. E.g. All PPAP elements and APQP, including but not limited to, Process Flows, PFMEA, Control Plans and generation of Work Instructions
  • Conducting internal audits to IATF16949 and customer requirements
  • Continuous improvement teams
  • Support functions to Projects

Requirements

  • Experience with internal & supplier auditing to ISO9001 & IATF 16949 standards would be desirable
  • In-depth knowledge of IATF6949 and associated core tools. APQP, PPAP, MSA, SPC, FMEA, 8D, Six Sigma, and Kaizen (Continuous Improvement). and other quality tools
  • Familiar with DFMEA, PFMEA, and Control Plan. Experienced in Product development or Product Qualification is desired; knowledge of Reliability is a plus.
  • Must be able to interact with Asia, Europe as needed during non-work hours (10% target), and travel both domestic and international.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), and Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), Six Sigma Black Belt (SSBB) is a plus.

  • Must be an organized individual with good communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with customers on a regular basis

The key responsibilities of this APQP Quality Engineer include, but are not limited to:

Oversee the implementation and maintenance of APQP throughout Lumentum.

The primary focus will be to work with department supervisors, process engineers, quality engineers, and shop floor employees to ensure that all elements of APQP (Process Flow Diagrams, PFMEA, Control Plan, and Measurement System Analysis) are documented and maintained as "Living, Breathing Documents" for all processes.

Develop and maintain a working knowledge of products and associated processes.

Maintain thorough knowledge of IATF16949, and subordinate procedures and policies.

Ensure all Procedures and Routines associated with APQP are maintained and current.

Develop and maintain professional relationships with employees and customers.

Regular meeting and communication with Managers and executives to discuss all APQP documentation.

Work extensively with Lumentums QMS system and quality planning team. Utilize Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other software as needed.


The Person:

  • 7-10 years' industry experience in automotive an Engineer.
  • Excellent computer and data mining skills. With a strong background in SPC methods. Experience in SPC, DOE, and GR&R is a plus.
  • Well-developed teamwork and collaboration skills. With the ability and experience to communicate clearly and professionally both verbally and in writing with internal cross-functional team.
  • Experience in Design and Development environment and preferably quality.

The key skills and qualities of an APQP Quality Engineer at Lumentum:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering discipline or similar degree.

Hands-on, working knowledge of all elements of APQP (Process Flow Diagram, FMEA, Control Plan, Measurement System Analysis).

Ability to lead/facilitate APQP team meetings to insure teams keep on track and achieve their objective of continuous Risk Mitigation.
Excellent interpersonal skills and adept at both oral and written communication skills.

Able to apply/utilize various problem-solving tools as appropriate for the situation.

Must be a Team player.
