Job Description


Purpose of Position:

The primary purpose of this position is to support the Senior Accounting and Financial Manager in the execution of all department activities, included but not limited to the period close process, annual and period forecasting and budgeting and variance analysis, financial reporting for the management team and other stakeholders, reviewing the work of the Corporate Accounting staff, execution on technical accounting topics, and driving the external audit to successful completion.

Essential Functions:

Support the period close process. This includes reviewing journal entries from staff, being a resource for when questions or issues arise, applying proper accounting treatment where needed, and assisting in other areas to ensure a timely and clean period close.

Assist in the annual budgeting process and the periodic forecast updates during the year. This involves understanding actual results, adjusting forecast as needed, and being able to understand and explain variances from forecast.

Assist in the preparation, review, and distribution of financial reporting for the management team. Be prepared to adjust reporting to meet the needs of the management team. Ensure that all financial reporting is in accordance with GAAP.

Assist in the analysis of technical accounting topics, as well as developing conclusions and implementation plans. Help guide the appropriate accounting treatment on various other existing technical accounting topics such as the new leasing standard ASC 842.

Direct the external audit to successful and timely completion, this includes working with auditors and internal stakeholders, reviewing all data that goes to the auditors, being a central resource internally and for the auditors, and drafting the audited financial statements and footnotes.


Qualifications


Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and CPA required

Public accounting audit experience of at least 2-5 years strongly preferred

Strong understanding of GAAP

Strong problem-solving skills, sound judgment, and decision making ability

Detail oriented and analytical

Must be able to communicate effectively with varying levels of management and team members, both written and verbal

Highly motivated, service oriented, self-starter and have the ability to multi-task and work on deadline

High proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel and Word)
