Job Description
Responsibilities: The Senior Accountant role will work within the Commercial Accounting group. The Commercial Accounting group is responsible for the daily accounting operations of Related’s commercial portfolio which covers retail, office, condominium, restaurant and experiences areas. The group’s responsibilities include internal and external management reporting, debt and partner compliance as well as interacting with lease administration, treasury and information technology.
The Senior Accountant will be primarily responsible for the analysis and financial reporting associated with the Master Condo Association at Columbus Circle and coordinating with the Condo management team. This accounting position is located at the building and will report to the Controller of Columbus Circle Condominium Master Association.
  • Assist in the accounting for the Condo activities and transactions
  • Assist in the annual budget and audited financial statements of the Condo Association
  • Prepare and maintain cash flows for the Condo’s operating, and capital projects
  • Prepare and process monthly, quarterly, and yearly stakeholder billings, true-ups and vital invoices
  • Prepare balance sheet and income statement variance analysis for management under GAAP and on a cash basis
  • Review and analyze the general ledger, financial statements and prepare appropriate accrual and adjusting journal entries in accordance with GAAP
  • Prepare detailed monthly and year end work papers
  • Act as liaison between property management and other departments to maintain the proper flow of information and reporting
  • Communicate with stakeholder representatives regarding any accounting concerns
  • Record minutes at the Finance Committee Meetings
  • Obtain proper signature for checks, wires, and vital invoices
  • Special projects as assigned by management
  • Participate in various business process and technology integration initiatives
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 4+ years of real estate experience, CPA preferred
  • Public accounting experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP/accounting theory
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Strong analytical ability
  • Mature professional with sound judgement and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with standard suite of Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel
  • Knowledge of JD Edwards a plus
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and work independently with attention to details
