Job Description

The secretary/receptionist coordinates and assists the Hospice team in maintaining the paper flow of clerical functions in the office and provides superior customer service in answering telephones and greeting customers, visitors and staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND MAJOR DUTIES

  • Provides assistance to the Hospice team, preserving the confidential nature of all information. The Secretary/Receptionist must maintain the files, supplies and general office condition in an orderly manner.
  • Handles all correspondence and word processing for the hospice organization.
  • Answers telephone inquiries and channels them appropriately.
  • Is responsible for maintaining administrative and clerical files.
  • Makes sure that all doctor's order forms and related forms are current and in compliance with Medicare and Medicaid regulations in collaboration with Supervisor.
  • Keep Agency manuals up-to-date at all times in collaboration with Supervisor.
  • Sends doctor's orders to physicians when received from nurses for signature. Keeps current log of what is sent to make sure they are returned with signature.
  • Assists with the maintenance of patient charts.

Clinical Director Minimum Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license and proof of current insurance and dependable transportation required
  • Intermediate personal computer skills including electronic mail, routine database and spreadsheet and spreadsheet activity and word processing
