Providence is calling a Scheduler Registrar (Patient Registration, Variable, 0.875 FTE) to Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Polson, Montana. In this position you will:

  • Contact with patient by telephone to interview them with courtesy and demonstrated service excellence to create appointments and schedule procedures.
  • Responsible for the efficient coordination of all providers, specialized equipment and other specialized resources.
  • Courteously and professionally responding to multiple phone calls and requests that often occur simultaneously.
  • Completes registration, verifying demographics and insurance, at the time of scheduling.
  • Collecting and scheduling accurate information regarding physician or patient special requirements, patient demographics to avoid duplicate errors, and/or refer call to appropriate person/department.
  • Collaborate with other departments regarding scheduling, resource or staffing conflicts.
  • Transcribe order and/or link order to patient appointment.
  • Ensure all computer system entries are completed accurately and timely.
  • Maintain accurate, clear, concise, and complete account notes and other relevant information.
  • Promote PH&S as a premier service organization by treating customers with compassion and respect.
  • Identify, resolve and escalate major issues and service failures that impede success.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all patients’ demographic, medical, and financial information, ensuring proper handling and disposal of confidential documents and adherence to HIPAA.
  • Required to think independently and to identify and make complex decisions in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • H.S. Diploma or GED
  • Demonstrated outstanding customer service experience
  • Clerical and computer experience
  • 1 year xxperience in customer service or healthcare registration

Preferred qualification for this position include:

  • Coursework/Training
  • Registrar, scheduler and third party payor experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of CPT and ICD coding and medical terminology
  • Basic knowledge of insurance and managed care payors, healthcare registration, Medicare Secondary Payor, EMTALA and ABN
